This team is one dimensional. If shots aren't falling, trouble. Not really good at much else; defense, rebounds.
I'm not overly worried about the season as a whole, but I have serious doubts to win the conference unless our conference mates step up to KU. That being said I think some interesting stats were:
10 assists to 10 turnovers
-10 TOs is not too bad
-10 assists is disappointing. Now usually when we have a low assist total it's because of poor shooting. But we shot 43% and that was on 27 shots. That is not ISU basketball.
-7 steals and 3 blocks, tells me that we were active on D.
-We scored 48 points in the 2nd half.
It really comes down to a 30% 3 pt shooting team shooting 11 3 ptrs for 46%.
Fred plays statistics, and he chose to stack the inside and let them get the 3s early. They had 6 3s by guys with avg of 30% or less. Usually that will work out.
Since the WVU game went so long I obviously didn't get to see the d in the first. (And I was coaching my son's team so I couldn't listen either) But I saw a lot of hustle in the second half to close out on those shooters. Hell, they didn't hit a fg in the last 8 minutes. But they did hit 18 FTs.
I guess my summary? **** happens.
What are the numbers in the lotto? If it makes you feel better to write it off and be surprised, that's your choice. I never give up, and I see that this team won't either. The bolded part is where I stopped reading your post. You're in complete and utter denial if you think we have a chance to win the conference. And it's not just me being upset about the loss. We lost to a team that none of the other contenders will lose to, and that puts us down one. Factor that in with KU winning @ Texas and Baylor. It's over. The best we can hope for is 2nd.

You said 5% chance, I said I have serious doubts. Not sure we're saying anything much different...We maybe have a 5% chance of winning it. Being generous. KU would have to collapse, which is the exact opposite trajectory that they are currently going.

We sucked.
20-1 run against us the first half was irreconciable. Were we out watering the plants?
Every time our game is switched to ESPN News, we play like crap.
I was expecting this to be a loss.
I think the most disappointing thing is just knowing that KU will likely win the conference... again. That really sucks.
Yup...blue bloods just know how to win on the road. They have "it"...whatever "it" is.
I'm starting to get tired of the talk. Just win when you're supposed to win, that's all. Our football coach is good at "talking" after bad losses. I don't want our basketball coach to become good at it too.
I went and listened to John Walters' interview with Fred BEFORE the TT game. Fred said he stressed to his team that you have to win these kinds of games to be champions. And he also said he stressed how important it was to get off to a quick start and not fall way behind like we did against Baylor because you can't win games coming from behind like that all the time.
I guess his team really listened to what he had to say, didn't they? They are a weak minded group, and not tough at all. They love to talk smack, and get all cocky when they play well, but then they disappear against terrible teams like TT and play like a bunch of losers.
Not the qualities of a great team at all right now.
I agree with you completely, but this is beyond winning on the road. This is just plain and simple a game that should have been won, no matter where it was played. This is a game Blue bloods lose once a decade. We find a way to still do it once or twice a year.
I missed the whole 1st half as I had to dvr the game; who was 'defending' on all those made 3's in the 1st half?
Isu shot 66% on 2's; we should probably keep chucking 3's. Also, I about lost it on Thomas' stupid reach in foul as the shot clock wound down.
