They're just mad because last year they got to go home early during the Big12 tournament and the NCAA tournament while ISU and Baylor were still playing both. I know they have done better in previous years, but last year was hurtful to some of their fans. A Kansas fan I know said he did not care about not winning the Big12 tournament because the NCAA was more important. He claimed that Self did not push his players as hard so that they would have additional rest and do better at the NCAA. Then the NCAA happened and he disappeared for a few weeks after that.
Interesting that ISU isn't a legit rival for KU, yet 2 days after our game there's more posts from Kboo fans here than on their board!
Even though KU has won the Big 12 tournament far more than any other team in the conference, most KU fans don't put too much stock it. When you've just played an 18 game round robin to determine the best team in the conference, the conference tournament seems pointless. The only years I've really cared about the tournament are the years in which we tied for the regular season championship, because then it can serve as an unofficial tie-breaker. Of the 4 times during the 10 year streak that KU has tied for the Big 12 championship, we have won the conference tournament 3 times. And while we hate losing in the NCAA tournament, it is hard to feel jealous of ISU or Baylor for accomplishing something (Sweet Sixteen) that we have achieved 10 out of the last 14 years.

They should give up their ticket allotment to ISU then
Meh i don't see why twocoach is arguing. In the end no one can stop kentucky this season.
KU will always be a second rate program to UK (also Duke).
Kinda sad, don't ya think, that a conference tourney is "just an exhibition game" to KU fans, coaches and players. But I suppose it's true based on KU stumbling against lower seeds in the dance. Funny how the only metrics they use to measure success are the one they succeed at.

To continue with that line of thinking, why are ISU fans arguing with us?

Now your starting to sound like the other Hawk fans that we don't care much about here. Love the excuse when you don't win it, "well we didn't care about it as much as you guys". Must just be the Hawk logic whether its JHawk or Hawkeye.
Well since you are so determined to use the Big 12 Tourney as a measure of success, KU is 30-7 all time in the Big 12 tourney with 9 titles. The next best team is OU with three titles and Mizzou, Iowa State and Okie State with 2 each. If my math is correct that means KU has as many Big 12 tourney titles as all current and former members of the Big 12 combined.Kinda sad, don't ya think, that a conference tourney is "just an exhibition game" to KU fans, coaches and players. Hey, it's still fun and we still want to win it. It just doesn't mean much. Plus, you only get to enjoy it for a few hours and then the brackets are released.
It's not an excuse. ISU fans just seem hell bent on finding something that raises the hackles of KU fans and we just aren't tat worked up over it. Sure, I'd LOVE it if KU would win the Big 12 tourney every year and make the Final Four every year but to expect that would be pure foolishness and to be bent out of shape when they don't just isn't needed when you know you'll get another great shot at it the next year. Now your starting to sound like the other Hawk fans that we don't care much about here. Most KU fans don't need to spend a lot of money to go to it. It's been in KC virtually every year recently and there are enough KU fans within an hour of the Sprint Center to fill the arena 5 times over. I have never been to see KU play in the Big 12 tourney. I'd rather spend my money on regular season tickets and to go watch them play in the real tourney whenever they are in a bracket in Omaha or KC.Just seems weird that your fans spend a lot of money to go to the tournament but they don't put much stock into it. ISU fans love it, might as well give it to a fan base that cares
Agreed, and if I am going to take a few days off work for a multi-day party at a sporting event I just go down the street from my building to watch the college world series. That's a ten day party with fans from all over the country. The conference tournament is a great time. It is a relaxing party in between the two things that really matter. I love the conference tournament and want us to win it, but it just never bothers me much when we don't.
