ISU fans have now spent way more time on UNI's ranking than any AP voter.

Many voters look at more than just what happened last week. Our losses to SC & Maryland look worse than they did a few weeks ago. The beat down on TTU makes the earlier loss look even worse. Some earlier wins such as against ALA & WVU are also not quite as impressive. Ironically, the win over IA looks better.

The current ranking is not as important as what the team does from here on out. If they can improve consistency and bring it on every possession, they could end up being the best team in school history. If they take plays off, especially on defense, it will be a story of what might have been.

Deservedly so. You would do the same. Especially taking into consideration that ISU worked to eliminate an annual game against UNI.
We have no reason to complain.

It's almost like you're enjoying ISU being ranked below UNI. Did you lose out on some business or something because we did away with playing them every year? Blame that idiotic Big 4 Classic instead.

But still only1% of the effort Maryland fans spend in ISU's ranking.
Maryland has some pretty aggressive message boards. My cousin played football for them and I used to frequent their 24/7 site. They're a kooky bunch over there.

We get a game or two a year where we don't have a fair shot already when we play KU. Not interested in adding another every other year with very little incentive. Fran played up there, saw his team got homered in a laughably obvious manner, and said "wtf are we coming here for?". That's why it ended. You probably have to go back decades to find an ISU/Iowa game where horrible officiating affected the outcome, when Iowa and ISU went to CF recently it was about half the time and that's why road games there gave way to just neutral site. Who knows how or why but it was what it was.

With the easy UNI schedule coming up I could see where they get up to 7th or 8th.

I get a sense they'll be a 3 or 4 seed. But that's assuming they win out with the exception of what will probably be two games against Wichita.

The night of the Fran meltdown featured three refs that do a ton of Big 10 and Big 12 games. The 'homered' argument is ridiculous. Fran having a bad team and acting like a ******* is the reason that happened.

The crew that night was John Higgins, Bo Boroski, and Paul Janssen.

The Valley uses the same refs that the Big 12 and Big 10 do.

For those griping about Kansas not dropping, remember that they beat #11 to offset their loss to Oklahoma State.

I said who knows how or why but that was one of most one sided games you will ever see in terms of horrid officiating. Iowa got screwed very obviously. Fran being an outsider looked at it somewhat rationally weighing pluses and minuses and said 'done'. That simple.

Also remember KU has the clear top schedule in the nation. Makes me vomit but KU is likely underrated slightly for the same reason UNI and WSU are overrated slightly.

Shouldn't the same apply to UNI? I think the Purple Aces have lost three in a row.

Honestly, Kansas is overrated. I don't for one second think they are one of the 8 best teams in the country. They definitely have one of the 8 best resumes in the country. They're still a year away. I kinda feel the same way about ISU this year as well. Both KU and ISU are going to be monsters next year.

Maybe because they demanded that we come and play in their oversized high school gym every other year as part of the deal? It's funny that they demand this as though they are some powerhouse, and not a mid-major basketball team. I have absolutely no interest in seeing ISU play UNI. The only reason I get excited to play them in football is because it's the season opener. If we're going to be doing a home and home, I would much rather see it against some other Midwestern school. Maybe Minnesota, Wisconsin, or Nebraska. I would actually get excited for those games.

You'd rather play Mississippi Valley State or Oakland? Not me.

I think ISU definitely should play Drake and UNI each season, there is no reason not too.

Playing UNI this year would have significantly boosted our non-conference schedule, that's for sure.

Definitely agree with that. Think both will be top 5

And win or lose we would still end up with a 3 or 4 seed in the tournament, so for me it's not really a significant boost.

Wow... this has been an interesting read so far. Good lunchtime entertainment.
A few things:
1. I don't think any UNI will argue that the MVC is in any way tougher than the Big 12. So please stop making this argument, there is no argument to be made. Big 12 > MVC
2. The rankings really mean nothing in the grand scheme of things. My guess is ISU ends up with a higher NCAA Tournament seed than UNI when all is said and done. ISU is likely a 3-4 seed, UNI will likely be a 5-6 seed (unless they run the table, which is unlikely with a game still at Wichita State).
3. For the few idiots posting, Texas Tech would not be the 3rd best team in the MVC. They lost to Loyola by 18 on a neutral court. Loyola is currently tied for 6th place in the MVC.
4. Rip UNI's schedule all you want if that's what will help you sleep at night. However, ISU could have easily played UNI this year. It was Iowa and Iowa State who wanted to end the home-and-homes with UNI and Drake. That would have been another big game for both UNI and ISU's non-conference strength of schedule.
5. Finally, as always, good luck the rest of the season. I wish the Cyclones well, unless of course they play UNI in the NCAA Tournament.

What irritates me the most is UNI's fans ignoring facts that put UNI in a bad light.

Why should we play UNI? There is no benefit. Our conference games provide plenty top 50 RPI win opportunities.

Take Notre Dame this year. That have a 330 Non-Con SOS, but their conference SOS makes up for this. Also, conference play provides them with plenty of top 50 RPI wins. This is why Kansas doesn't play Wichita State, there is no reason for it.
