SIAP, but Scott Wolf (LA Daily News) has us 25th in his poll. Nobody else has us lower than 17th. He had us 14th last week, so I guess losing at Phog Allen is enough to drop nine spots in his poll.

Or even 11 spots!

You'd rather play Mississippi Valley State or Oakland? Not me.

I think ISU definitely should play Drake and UNI each season, there is no reason not too.

Playing UNI this year would have significantly boosted our non-conference schedule, that's for sure.

Yes I'd rather play Mississippi Valley State or Oakland in Hilton than play at UNI. You have to schedule a certain number of home games to please your season ticket holders and unless ISU starts paying out more money we will probably continue to see some pretty bad teams. With the limited number of non-conference away games you try to do something "useful". That means things like getting home and away games with quality P5 teams like Michigan or getting exposure somewhere like the South Carolina game in New York. UNI just doesn't fit either of those things.

Any time UNI is willing to come to Hilton without a return game I have no doubt they would get scheduled, but I can see why UNI doesn't want to do that.

Before getting too bent (I know, too late, right?) out of shape about KU staying put and ISU dropping keep in mind that while KU lost at OSU, they also handled a top 15 team pretty handily at home last week. ISU dropped one to KU and then played the worst team in the Big 12 at home.

Yeah, it would have been nice to recognize that the loss was in an arena that no one wins in, but I don't think it is anything to lose your cookies over.

Plus they won and we lost when everyone e was watching. On sa turd ay they lost in a Hangover game and we won against a crappy team that just reminded anyone who watched it that we lost to tech.

Why should we play UNI? There is no benefit. Our conference games provide plenty top 50 RPI win opportunities.

With that line of thinking, we shouldn't play anyone with a pulse in the non-con. Let's schedule 15 Mississippi Valley State's and see what happens come tournament time.

I'd rather play UNI at UNI than someone like a South Carolina on a neutral floor.

I get that and agree we need as many home games as possible. We play one less game than almost everyone else this year. I'd rather play a road game at UNI than not play at all.

Let's just hope we can play UNI in the NCAAs. Means we both won a game or two. I would like our chances.

Take Notre Dame this year. That have a 330 Non-Con SOS, but their conference SOS makes up for this. Also, conference play provides them with plenty of top 50 RPI wins. This is why Kansas doesn't play Wichita State, there is no reason for it.
Complete ***** mentality. Why don't we just play Simpson and Coe.

I don't like playing ANY good mid-majors in a tournament setting. They will be pumped and big school guys tend to underestimate them regardless of what they say publicly. This ISU group tends to play better when the challenge is blatantly obvious.

In my honest opinion, ISU shouldn't have fallen this week. Should have stayed where they were. Also, IMHO, UNI should currently be ranked about 15. I say UNI has no chance of breaking into the Top 10 this season unless they win out, even then it may not happen, which is fine with me. I'm just enjoying the ride and hoping for a few wins in March.
Agreed and good post. I saw this coming from a ways out knowing we would inevitable lose some road games to good big 12 teams and fall while UNI would climb so I guess I was prepared for it while others obvious weren't. I like how the college football committee made the AP irrelevant by releasing their top 25. I hope the ncaa tourney starts releasing their top 16 s curve To have the same effect no point getting butt hurt. I hope UNI does well enough to get a great seed but not well enough to take the Omaha spot ISU fans are coveting. Good luck.

I agree with that this year but years they are not top 50 rpi it is potential for a bad loss as they are mostly Iowa kids amped with a chip on their shoulder playing against an Iowa State team overlooking them. It is dangerous and not worth the risk. Better off playing a team with no extra motivation for the game.

It's the little brother complex that causes some of our fans to obsess about UNI. Not sure how many more years of Hoiball it is going to take for some of you to finally get it out of your system.

That line of thinking is exactly why we can't get a top tier teams to Hilton. Duke, Kentucky, UNC, etc have no incentive to come to Hilton because they may lose when they should win. And I hate that line of thought.

I truly believe there are 7 teams in the big 12 better than UNI. Oh well I'm just going to enjoy our 4th straight NCAA tourney.

If you still don't get it open the spoiler.

Maryland fans have been ****** that ISU has been ranked above them despite the head to head Maryland win.

I don't pay attention to Maryland fans and didn't know they were concerned.
