The thing that's clear is they can play great for a half in any game against any opponent. I'd rather them play lights out in the 2nd half.

We are playing in a historically good conference and can still have a share of the regular season title with one game to go. Sure, we ****** four games down our leg, but in the BIGGER picture this team is FREAKING AWESOME!

I'll decide what's going on once the TCU game ends. Teams in the middle of a collapse don't make 21 point comebacks though.

One GIANT come back does not mean they have "fixed the problem". It takes more than one game. This team does not have a "killer" instinct. Every time they get up BIG on a team, no matter how bad that team may be, they always seem to let those teams back in the game.

Yes, "The Comeback" was great. But aren't we all missing the BIGGER picture here? Iowa State is struggling right now at the end of the regular season & right before the Big 12 Tournament. This team is worrying me as they don't have that same "moxy" that last year's team had.

Don't have "moxy"? I think the comeback last night showed that they do have "moxy". They made a push right after the half and then OU pushed it back to 20. It would have been easy to quit at that point, but they didn't. They showed a lot of determination in getting last nights win.

I know, I think people are still stung by not winning the Big 12 outright, and assume that everything is going bad.

But take solice in the fact that the team did rebound, (just like against OSU last year) and no matter what happens the rest of the year, a potentially better team awaits in 2015-2016.. How fun is that..

To me that is the bigger picture.

Enjoy what you got, because who knows how long it will last :)

The bigger picture should not be "next year's" team when this is the team we have right now.

Talking about the bigger picture and then wittling down the "bigger picture" to like the last 3 games? Makes sense.

The bigger picture is that we've been ranked all year. We're ahead of where we were last year, especially in terms of not needing to run the B12 tourney to get a 3 seed. We don't have any major injuries and we have a win over KU again this season (a rarer occurrence than one would think).

We've answered every question so far:

This team can't rebound. Where you at rebounding whiners?
This team can't shoot free throws: Where you at Free Throw whiners?
This team can't win on the road: Where you at road game whiners?
This team just doesn't have "it moxy (sp) as the OP puts it" (whatevertf that means): Team comes back from an impossible position to beat YET ANOTHER ranked team and YET ANOTHER top 50 RPI team

That's the bigger picture.

Always gotta be that guy.

This season is closing to almost a mirror image of last season. Fans here were mad and stating the team was not finishing the season strong.

How 'bout the weak minded just shut it until the season closes out with the non-stop negativity. And also realize that the ISU MBB program has never been better than it is today. Yes, never ever has the program strength and outlook been better than now.

Want and hope/expect more? Sure. Snivel and whine the whole way? No.

That's the bigger picture.

FT shooting has clearly improved. Some of the guards with baffling low % early in the year have brought their #s up and McKay's improvement is obvious.

Hogue dropping 12% from last year is the biggest 'shock' in that area as we see the long haul #s.

The entire rest of our rotation is shooting over 70% now from the line and even McKay would be if you cut out his horrible first few games. Not excellent, but not the gigantic wtf it was early on.

Go look at the # of times that we've had 21 (and potentially 22) regular season wins.

If you want some real fun, go count the # of 23 win seasons that ISU has ever had (10, if this year happens like it should). Note that Fred will have 4 of them, and all in a row.

Things are better than they've ever been, and we just witnessed a historic comeback victory. That indicates that talent and heart came together last night after a 20+ minute start that made that look impossible.

The bigger picture to me is that while the team was struggling with confidence they had the "moxy" to fight back to beat a top 15 team. And while people were questioning our players and coaches, Fred knew exactly how to handle a team that was struggling with its confidence at half time.

We really need Kansas to beat OU.

If we play them, Oklahoma will kick our *** in the b12 tournament.

If we beat TCU and KU beats OU, OU should be 4 seed and we will be opposite them as 2 seed

http://bball.notnothing.net/big12.php?sport=mbb

I wouldn't guarantee anything if that matchup occurred except that I think it would be a great game, I don't see either team getting their 3 stars kicked on a neutral court.

What was different about this years team and last years team? Last year team blew leads too...

To me, we have thought that the losses would be the lessons learned. Well, not so much. I think last night's game will be the lesson that these guys needed. If somebody is junking up the lane, you pop from outside. If they wear you like an OJ glove, then you take them off the dribble. No deficit will be too big for them now. Maybe we needed a game where we came back to win to show us how to win. We shall see.

I sure don't think last year's team was better, just different.

I guess I agree with the OP. The big problem with this team was established in the last 5 minutes of two games and the first half of the next. You can't fix 30 minutes of bad ball with just 20 minutes of good. We will need another +10 good vs bad play against TCU to get back to bring good again.
Am I don't this right?
