Just call it the "NCAA plays favorites if you have an elite cash cow football program" award. Switch names on jerseys, McKay has a whole season and Thomas sits out till Jan 1.

That's pretty cool he got this. Did Babb ever get this award?
He did not, most likely because he didn't really generate defensive stats from it. He could shut a player down and keep them from scoring, he just didn't have a ton of steals and blocks to go with it.

Slam dunk because McKay did it all against Big 12 and Thomas got to pad stats against scrubs. The reason for this? NCAA favoritism bending the rules for OU.

DPotY is a bigger award anyway, he's competing with every player in the B12 for that one. Still it's hilarious another team basically needed the NCAA to cheat to rip that award from ISU.

Correct me if I'm wrong but don't the coaches vote for the awards? I'm not surprised they'd pick Thomas over McKay. McKay up until recently has been a garbage man and got all of his points via dunks. Thomas throughout the season was a more complete player. Jameel is just starting to come into his own.

Jameel deserved one of those first two awards. Glad he got one.

I don't mind Huggins getting coach of the year, but I think Fred deserved it as well. Replacing the players he did and finishing 2nd is pretty impressive.
