Long is quoted on ESPN as saying how they got lackidaisical (SP).

I'd like a thorough explanation as to how a team gets lackidaisical for an NCAA first round game, other than it being a trend this year.

Did he really? See that's the crap that ticks me off....and we've seen that BS all year....overlooking teams, not respecting teams....and lackadaisical?!!! Unreal....im having trouble feeling too sorry for these guys.

Lackadaisical and he goes 2-9....smh.

Sure it is. We had one of the worst rosters for defense. Our best defenders could not be counted on for offense. A bit of the old McD problem- not enough good two-way players.

That's either ******** or a cop out. The only one who was limited in what he could do defensively is Niang. We finally had someone on the back end who could do something, we have a PG who is pretty good defensively when he wants to be, Some pretty good size/length/quickness on the wing. There's no reason this couldn't have been a good defensive team with that length. They should have at least been able to get into lanes and force some turnovers even if risks did allow for buckets. Hell, you saw them do that at times. I tend to think that at this point that's how it's going to be. Hoiberg wants to outscore people and that makes things really fun to watch but when you don't shoot well, you're going to get beat more often than not. When you don't rebound well on a day like today, you don't deserve to. Rebounding is effort. We weren't playing Kentucky or Arizona and giving up an insurmountable amount of size. We simply didn't want to rebound as much as they did and they knew that that was one place in the game that they could hammer us. And boy did they hammer us. A 40% Oreb rate should be unacceptable with this team.

I just saw that quote on the ESPN story, and you know what? I hate to write it, but it actually makes me just a little bit glad the team lost today. Now they'll have six months to finally figure out that if you come out lackadaisical (or start playing that way after you get a 10-point lead in the first 5 minutes of the game), you go home much, much earlier than you're supposed to. If the Texas Tech game didn't hammer that point home enough than nothing would.

They had enough wake up calls. USC, TTU, KSU, even Baylor. Maybe the true heartbreak will change something.

That was what made this team incredibly frustrating and made this team incredibly awesome. Nothing affected them.

What's really sad is that a 6-4 guard pulled down 9 offensive boards for them in 14 minutes. NINE!! And nobody on the entire team, coach or player, said "hey we really need to focus on keeping this guy off the glass"?

No one else on their team had more than 2 oreb for the game.

I haven't had a single drop of alcohol today. Mainly because I still have to work tomorrow. Definitely will tomorrow. For now, I will cry myself to sleep tonight

Anyone over this loss yet?

I'm still pi55ed off as all get out. Arrrggghhhh.

Over it? No. But after today I'm not going to dwell on it for months and months like some people like to do here with football losses.

It's a freaking basketball game.

That I watched. On tv.

In the big scheme of things I am probably going to be OK somehow.

Here nor there
I'm not. Can't speak for others.
I am still not over 2012, 2013, or 2014. Took me until Hoiball to get over 2000.

I was not sold that this team could win more than 1 or 2 games in a row away from Hilton, too many fundamental holes. But the Big 12 Tournament had me put my guard down. Started to think we finally found that magic teams outside of the elites need to make a run. We had that last March and in 2012 imo.

I'm going to nitpick and blame this on Hoiberg, not on Niang — UAB was hell-bent on stopping Georges and hoping ISU couldn't beat them with its other multiple possibilities. But we ignored it, insisting that when it was crunch time, everything had to run through Niang. And even before crunch time.

UAB also knew that offensive rebounding was among its meager hopes, and went all out on that. As soon as UAB got that tip-in and-one when it was a 4-point game (I think that's when it happened), I knew we were in 50-50 territory for pulling out a win.

Oh, I definitely remember that play; it will be etched in my memory for a long, long time.

I didn't really get too nervous until the 10 minute mark of the 2nd half when it was still anyone's ball game. At that point, with us not having gone on one of our patented runs to get a lead is when I first started to feel that it just might not be our day.

Only reason they beat Kansas is because Niang passed out to Morris. Didn't happen tonight and Georges got blocked on a triple team. Going off Walters commentary didn't get to watch the game.

I hate all the idiots whining about offensive rebound stats. Anyone watching the game today could see at least half of those were pure f-ing luck, sometimes everything goes the other way.
