Sankey says he wants to hear some fresh ideas. Ok, I got one he can chew on.
How about a 5 + 3 model? 16 teams is a joke.

Agree, 8 would've been the best.Sankey says he wants to hear some fresh ideas. Ok, I got one he can chew on.

Great response here by the B12 to another dumb eff remark by Pettiti:
I get it’s his job to say it but that is entirely dependent on schedule which he and everyone knows. I kinda wonder what the question was to get to that answer

You would have to be crushed by the schedule gods that’s for sure. Probably an OOC SEC match, then probably have to play the top 5/6 teams in the conference that year. What would that schedule have to look like to have a 4 loss team make the playoffs? Is the Big Ten scheduling the NFC North now?

16 teams should be 5-11. But they insane bias that the B10 and SEC get needs to be reigned in too. The preseason rankings overinflate the values of those conferences and it carries through the season. Because... hypothetical reasons.
No conf should get 4 autobids. Hell no conf gets that many auto bids in the NCAA with 68 teams getting in.
The absolute most should be 3-3-3-3-1-3, or 3-3-3-3-4. I think to cover antitrust they have to give the G5 at least 1 auto bid if the rest get them.
Exactly my point, also forgot this is probably in regards to the playoff expansion (still don’t know the question that elicited this answer.Because of its size, 9 games and how top half heavy it is, the Big Ten has the toughest and easiest power conference schedules. It's literally both.
I'd still argue at 8-4 even if 3 of the losses are really good Big Ten losses, that non conf loss better also be to a top 25ish team. College football is pretty much dead as we've known it if 8-4 teams in the media favorite conferences get automatic playoff births, regular season becomes meaningless for maybe 10 programs who can waltz to 8-4.
I’d be shocked if a 5th place team ever got in. 4 I could see pretty easily but not 5. That would have to be a pretty wild year.Forget autobids. Total conference bids should be capped at 4. If you can’t finish top 4 in your league, how do you make an argument that you should play for the national title? Top 4 would be more than enough to account for uneven schedules or games dropped due to injuries.

Also if you’re gonna let a G5 in you can’t use the arguement that you want teams only capable of winning a title. Otherwise we could have kept the playoffs at 4-6 teams and called it a day.
When you said “schedule”, I think you meant “brand”. And by brand you mean OSU, Michigan, and maybe Penn StateI get it’s his job to say it but that is entirely dependent on schedule which he and everyone knows. I kinda wonder what the question was to get to that answer
Bama just got left out with fewer for a 12. It 100% is possible. This isn’t sabans bamaNo way Ohio State is left out of a 16 team playoff even if they have four losses and finish 5th in the conference. Same with Alabama and Georgia in the SEC. They might even get in with 5 losses. They would have to be awful for the committee to not spin a way to get them in.
Nah it’s still schedule when it comes to the wins and losses. When you said “schedule”, I think you meant “brand”. And by brand you mean OSU, Michigan, and maybe Penn State
I agree, I only say 5 autobids, because if you are the conf champ then you should really get a spot, and giving one to the G5 appeases them. But I totally agree conferences should be capped at 4.Forget autobids. Total conference bids should be capped at 4.
