How does that story increase the momentum for him going to the Bulls?

If Fred were to leave, he'd make sure we have a solid coach coming in to ensure this place doesn't fall to **** again.

But I don't think he's gone. I'm a Bulls fan saying this: 90% of the fans are ignorant dumb ****s who don't realize how great their current coach is. Instead of supporting their coach, they attack him.

Fred hasn't even finished the challenge set here at ISU. He isn't going to start a new challenge without finishing the first.

The choice for my next salary is $1 million dollars a year. That is the same as the Bulls next choice for coach being Hoiberg. Hint: I am not close to making $1 million dollars a year.

If Fred does leave, does Pollard step away as AD?

That'd be a ton of stress to find another coach yet again, and with the whole fb situation, he might find it easier to say he's stepping away so he can get his health under control.

FWIW, with Pollard's strong work ethic and willpower, I couldn't see him bailing on what he's built so far. Unless of course his health is worse than we think.

Re: Fred to Bulls rumor gaining a little momentum..

I worry about you Thompson.

Every coach in my lifetime, sans McD, has had success. 4 of the last 5 coaches made it to the second round in Year 2.

The coach that did not have success recruited to Iowa State in four seasons 5 players that played in the NBA, which does not include an eventual AA and Big 12 POY in Ejim or Marquis Gilstrap, a Big 12 Newcomer of the year by some publications.

Hoiberg is the best and it would be crushing if he left in a few years, but have more respect for the program.

I was too young for Fizer days. Started becoming a big fan during the Stinson days. Morgan only got us to the tournament once. Then McDermott comes in and has no success at all. I have pretty much only seen ISU be successful under Hoiberg. I think there'd be a drop off. Obviously it depends on who we hire but Hoiberg getting us two 3 seeds in a row is pretty special.

Thankfully I think Hoiberg stays for a while.

I'm comfortable that he won't leave. Unless, of course, the Minnesota Gophers come sniffing around.

Any NBA GM doesn't deserve their money if hoiberg isn't at least on the list of top people to call. So of course rumors will come out that he's a top target for places. Doesn't mean he will leave.

I have no doubts that the Bulls will offer Fred the job.

i have some (not all) doubts that he will decline.

regardless - I can't do anything about it, so I'll wait to cry when it happens, then reflect about how fun the last 4 seasons have been.
What scares me is the GM and Fred are tight
Wouldn't he already know the answer like Flip did?

I wont pretend to know what he decides to do, but there are towns much further away than Chicago that tempted the family. Don't be so sure.

Ah, the yearly thread about this.

:)

One thought I had....if he is due for another heart surgery, making a job change seems very unlikely this summer. There is my two cents.

Blah blah blah. Cool article....but did you see the video below that article with Marcus Smart punching some guy in the nuts during a game, got ejected, and now could face penalty from the NBA? That guy was just a class act, one of a kind player that came out of Cowboy Country.

He goes. He doesn't go. Whatever. Not worth getting worked up. I mean, we will still have a team, right?

Well, if CFH leaves for the NBA, then I figure Coach Otz will get a call from JP.

But if that next coach is black and the boosters don't like successful Obama types or people with different skin colors? ;-)
