Re: REPORT: Alvin Gentry, not Fred Hoiberg, favorite to replace Tom Thibodeau

So many things could already be in place and the media hasn't been allowed to make it official yet.

Some of you are in denial that is even a real option.

I may end up being wrong which I am completely fine with but the fact that some of you think the Hoiberg leaving ISU isn't even a possibility are crazy.

If I say something on here and I'm wrong then big whoop. If a guy like CW or Hines tweets or writes something and he's wrong they could potentially lose their job.

So, how about the veracity of your buddy? What other inside information has your buddy told you that has proven to be true? And posts to prove it? Or is this the first time?

I know that there are inside sources, such as team managers, who know a ton, but are usually pretty good at not leaking it. If your buddy truly has inside info, I wonder if he will ever tell you again now that you leaked this one in a public forum? It probably wouldn't be too hard for somebody to trace you back to him.

Everyone can look at my posting history and judge for themselves but I'm on the sunshine and rainbows brigade for basketball, and this isn't looking good folks.

Most of us here are looking at the facts and logic and trying to connect the dots. I think most of us here understand that there is a real concern that Fred may leave this year. However your post didn't add up. It would be more credible (to me) if you stated there is an offer and Hoiberg is mulling it over or reports he is 50/50 on going OR Fred accepted contingent on the Bulls finding a trading partner for Thibs. I really don't buy the player angle. You NEVER tell people outside the small/immediate circle until it's a 100% done deal.

3. The whole thing is junk.

Right.

But people get so damn ****** off if anyone dare question their story.

Like for example, there are few people questioning that Dandy was told by a good source that Hoiberg is gone. But someone dare question the logistics of the whole story (everyone and their mother knew last week) and you are suddenly a denier.

An interim coach is just a stupid idea. I'm not calling anybody's sources right or wrong. Just saying that it's a stupid idea.

This. At this point I just assume he's gone. Its been nothing but continuous **** since the UAB loss. Why wouldn't that trend continue? But that story makes zero sense.

Rose has said he wants Thibs back. With that roster including a healthy Rose all year, they're going to be in the thick of the playoffs again next year.

Problem is Cleveland will have Irving and Love back next year with another year of LeBron and Blatt. I think Chicago's window to make the finals has closed and they need something to change. That means either a coaching change or mass players leaving.

I haven't named him. Why would he care if I posted something he heard and openly told me without me even asking?

Unless its to allow Horny's contract to run out so we can get him in for 2016/17. I wouldn't mind playing the long game here. We need to stay calm if Fred leaves and not do anything brash. The team we have coming back and TJ being interim with Mann staying on board would pretty much keep the roster in tact.

1) the team has not been told anything, this week or last.

2) there will not be an interim coach.

3) Fred puts his pants on one leg at a time, when he decides to wear them at all.

4) Fred absolutely is their only option and if you start hearing different names over the next week, it's because Fred said no and the Bulls have to save face by leaking other names.

How does this square in a thread with Alvin Gentry's name being leaked?

It could be preemptive by the Bulls.

But who the **** would commit for the next coach?

If I believe the posters on this thread the players are so damn happy that Hoiberg is leaving that they've kept their mouth shut about it for over a week. They won't leave in that case.

If he leaves, Pollard should try to find a homerun hire. He won't find one because this job isn't all that appealing in late May/early June/July or whenever Fred decides to stop holding Iowa State hostage :) Other coaches are going to want to be considerate to their school as well. So the option that will happen will be the one that Pollard wanted all along--hiring TJ.

I'm completely okay with getting told I was wrong here. It's a small piece to the pie.

What about the staff? Are you hearing if the staff has been told Hoiberg's intentions?

That name was leaked as an OPTION if Fred turns them down.

The Chicago side of the media isn't as convinced that Fred will take the job as we are.
