Re: REPORT: Alvin Gentry, not Fred Hoiberg, favorite to replace Tom Thibodeau

Right. And I'm not melting down. I think you confuse a person speculating on what they think will happen and not thinking it is a good idea with melting down.

I think if Fred leaves that TJ will get the job and I think that is a bad idea.

I think making the same 'sky is falling' post over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over again is the exact definition of melting down.

We all know what you think. You have told us numerous times in every single thread for the last month. Please do us, and your own reputation a favor and stop.

Ok, I'll say this. Who cares if you are right? Wouldn't you like to be wrong? So who cares what some random poster says about what you said?

I've posted in here at least 3 times that I want to be wrong.

So Fred puts together a detailed plan for Pollard and gushes about this being his dream job, only to leave after five seasons?

You aren't right. your rumor is invalidated by the fact that two key points have already been proven incorrect. That doesn't mean Fred is staying, it just means that you don't know whether Fred is staying or going. That's how rumors work.

So if Hoiberg leaves for the Bulls I was wrong?

So then let it go. Some people don't want to believe you. Keep posting what you know/want to post but don't expect everyone to believe you.

You, or more accurately your source, wouldn't be wrong if all you said is Fred will be coaching the Bulls next year. Unfortunately there was a bunch of other stuff that went along with it that made no sense, and other more reliable sources have said is not true.

But don't worry---he loves Iowa State so much!

Dandy, you're doing it wrong. If you're going to post sources info, just post it and be done with it. Don't respond to every single person that questions it and defend it. What's the point?

If you think that because Fred decides to take an NBA coaching job that means that he doesn't love Iowa State then you're delusional.

When he first got hired. He gushed about this being where he wanted to be.

Things change. Maybe he found out he didn't like coaching college as much as he liked, maybe he figured out that he was damn good at coaching and wanted to go the NBA, maybe his family never really liked moving back to Ames. Lots of things could have happened. But when he came here he made it sound like this is where he wanted to be. If he leaves now, it turns out that this is not where he wanted to be.

Re: REPORT: Alvin Gentry, not Fred Hoiberg, favorite to replace Tom Thibodeau

You think TJ would spend a year as a head coach (and most likely with some success) and then stay on as an assistant?

If it comes down to it (and it will if Hoiberg leaves), you hire TJ at 700k a year for 4 years. You don't give him a big raise next year no matter what they do and you tell him that he'll have to earn the extension in year 2 or 3. You put a huge *** buyout in the contract because what's the worst that can happen?

The positive is that they would save some money which might be needed if we have to buy out Rhoads.

TJ says no to that stupid contract proposal and we get stuck with the next option. 700k is a joke at a Big 12 school.

I think it means he loves coaching in the NBA more than he loves Iowa State. It isn't that he would hate Iowa State. But coaching in the NBA would be more important to him than coaching at Iowa State.

I'm not sure why this is so damn hard for people to understand. I find it so funny that so many want to believe that he would take an NBA job as a favor to Iowa State.

If I took a new job it would be because that job was more important to me and my family than the other job. It wouldn't mean I hated my other job. But it would mean that I liked the other job better.

Well, then he would say no. Fred started at 700k. There's no reason to pay TJ more than a million.

Does this mean Fred and I aren't Cyclone Brothers?
