Re: REPORT: Alvin Gentry, not Fred Hoiberg, favorite to replace Tom Thibodeau

Well I'll have to add you to my "Can't take you seriously" list now.

I think keeping Thibs for one more year if they can't get Fred and can't trade his rights is the "bust" route for the Bulls, based on everything i've read. It's at least more likely that Alvin Gentry coaching the Bulls next year.

Re: Tom Thibodeau: Business as usual 'until they tell me' otherwise

Shoofta, I hadn't seen a new CFH to the Bulls thread in some time, I thought maybe it was a dead story and I missed something..

All is in order again.

Re: BLUM: The Mayor's dilemma

Why are the Chicago Bulls necessarily a coaching graveyard? After failing with the Bulls, Tim Floyd was given another opportunity with the Hornets. After failing with the Hornets, he was welcomed back into a P5 conference in college.

Plenty of P5 teams will be happy to take Fred if he wants to return to college- regardless of how he does with the Bulls.

After the Bulls, Floyd was out of coaching for a few years and then coached 1 year for Charlotte Hornets. Out of coaching for another year and a half before being hired by USC. Floyd then coached at USC for four years until the OJ Mayo controversy. Sat out another season and is now coaching at UTEP........ UTEP.

Since Jackson left, the most successful coach the Bulls have had has been Thibodeau. Thibodeau has been Coach of the Year once and finished 3rd for Coach of the Year in 2014. And now they have fired him. The Bulls job is Fool's Gold IMO.

Doesn't matter. This isn't about money. It was a good run. Maybe a little too good.

Sadly this is true.. After talking with someone who is connected I think he's all but gone. I was really if he left it would be for the wolves job.

If #Bulls make coaching change, Fred Hoiberg WOULD accept the job if it were offered, a source who spoke to Hoiberg told me this morning.

Do people REALLY think Fred and the Bulls won't talk before Thibs is fired? The Bulls aren't going to make a change without knowing for sure that they'll get the first or second choice.

And also, do you think Fred could tell someone close to him that he was going to take the job and it would only leak to some dude in LA? No way.

"Until they tell me I'm not [the coach], I expect to be here. So that's the way I'm approaching it."

I'll give Tom the benefit of the doubt trying to improve his P.R. across the league and not burn bridges in hopes of landing with another team. Bad-mouthing a previous employer is never good. Or, Tom's ego is in full denial and truly expects to return, after all, people expect to win the lottery every time they play too until told otherwise (which happens every time).

Everyone has sources...I've heard definite things on both sides....comes down to what he wants. Nothing we can do about it, so no point in worrying. It'll suck if he goes, but life goes on.

FWIW I don't trust that guy knows what he is talking about but figured it was worth a copy and paste since it's out there

Getting to be too much smoke around this IMO. So much for ISU being his dream job.

This sucks.

if isu can't keep Hoiberg from using us as a stepping stone then there is no hope.

Re: REPORT: Alvin Gentry, not Fred Hoiberg, favorite to replace Tom Thibodeau

Why anyone would want to coach in the NBA is beyond me. I feel bad for coaches, I really do, handling the preferential treatment of star players from league/owners, balancing ego's of other players, star players looking at coaches with disdain, etc. I would have better luck teaching/motivating this bulldog how to play defense in the NBA than most players.

And yes I feel well all can rightfully be royally PO'd at him over this. He should know as well as anyone that this is huge kick to the nuts to a school that's suffered more than we ever should have.
