Re: Hoiberg to Accept Bulls Job, If Offered

You're going to be crushed when he bails, because it's coming.

I'm kind of coming to this conclusion myself. The silence on the matter is what has me thinking he is gone. Everyone knows Fred has the Bulls job if he wants it. Unless there are some odd conspiracy going on behind the scenes, I see no other reason to keep quiet, other than he wants everything in place to get out of Ames as quickly as possible.

I don't blame Fred I guess, but I can't help but feeling so depressed about the whole situation. This really will seal the deal, if he leaves that I am rooting for a lame duck program. If we can't find a way to keep Fred in Ames, then there really is no reason to think anything is ever going to change around here. It's why I always emphasized during the season, enjoy it while you can, because as an ISU fan, you know, deep down, it isn't going to last for very long.

.

side note...if JP hires TJ as HC without putting out serious feelers to other coaches then it will be the end of JP at Isu.

I completely agree that JP needs to have a legit search, in order to get the best possible coach. If it's TJ fine, but I also don't see any way JP gets fired for just giving it to TJ.

Not sure how some of you can be in as much denial as you are. Just don't see how Fred keeps quiet this long if he wasn't going to take the Bulls job. It makes no sense, it kills recruiting and definitely makes things tough on the team. I've gone from thinking he would stay to just waiting for the announcement he is leaving to accept the job.

Because, as of right now, the Bulls have a head coach. He's not going to say he's leaving or not when there is nowhere to go.

lol not going to happen.

We are a top 20 program nationally and next season we have a potential top 5 team. Hiring a "rookie coach" wouldn't sit well with a LOT of people. Myself included. I'd want to know several high quality prospects were interviewed for the position. I respect TJ, but if he's legitimately here as head coach in waiting, that's extremely disappointing.

If Pollard and Fred aren't negotiating a contract, then there is no reason to justify the silence. I think unless we hear very soon that a new contract has been negotiated, it's beyond doubt that Fred is trying to get out.

If for some reason he can't go to the Bulls this year, I would say by next year he's gone for sure.

I really hope Pollard is going all in to try and keep him at ISU. But I really don't know if it is a money/contract issue as much as it is just Hoiberg really wanting a shot at the NBA. Guess we'll find out. Can't wait for this all to be over.

Pollard's top priority ( if Fred leaves) is keeping next years team here and ready for a great season....TJ has a strong relationship with all of the upperclassmen, as well as Deonte....like it or not, he is probably here for this exact "emergency clause if Fred goes"

I guarantee JP isn't fired if/when Hoiberg leaves and Otz is hired. There are too many facility improvements, basketball success, fan excitement at an all time high during his tenure..especially if it was a joint decision between JP and Fred that Otz takes over the program. I have no doubt that Fred is doing everything he can to make sure ISU is in the best possible hands if he were to go and I can see him (and JP) thinking Otz is the way to go whether the fans like it or not.

Unfortunately it probably won't be this easy. There is some speculation that if Fred leaves and TJ is hired there will be players considering transferring out.

So you really think that if he had made up his mind that he was staying at ISU he wouldn't of stated so already? Come on, take your blinders off.

For 1 season. There will be a monumental dropoff after the 2015-16 season.

Maybe, maybe not. Unless you know exactly how recruiting is going to shake out? Ya, we will definitely not have a top ten team in 2016-17 but that doesn't mean we couldn't have a nice young roster.

Yeah, lets go get a proven coach with lots of experience like Greg McDermott.... How can fans of the school that hired Fred Hoiberg demand that the next guy be an established coach with head coaching experience? Probably the best coach we ever had was a rookie coach and fans would be stupid enough to question the hiring of another rookie coach? Whoever Pollard hires is fine by me, he's earned that trust.
