Not true. Knowing someone that talks to the family, the kids are excited their Dad is the Bulls coach.
but clonedude picked up vibes, man! He's a human seismograph.

Salary, exposure, level of play is higher than college, step up professionally, tv ratings are insanely higher, do I need to continue? This is a business decision and Fred is an astute businessman, whether it is basketball or his other business ventures. This is a better position professionally than the job title Bill Self or Roy Williams hold right now.
Good God that is a weird thing to write.
I would hope that all of his boys are happy with this decision, and Carol too, but I'm getting strong vibes that they are not all that thrilled with it.
Sure, they are going to support their husband/Dad and his lifelong dream of coaching at the highest level, but that doesn't mean they have to like that decision. I think his boys really like living around Ames and their grandparents too.
I just hope it all works out well for Fred and his family. I hope in this case that the grass is actually greener on the the other side. I just have my doubts.
I just have to laugh at the bitter, creepy vibes some of you put out on here. Believe me, you are not a very good representation of the Cyclone fanbase as a whole. Especially those of us in Ames that have known him for a long time. Cut ties with him? Comparing him to an ex-girlfriend? You are some sad and pathetic people. Maybe get a new hobby? Maybe don't hang out on here so much? I don't know. Just time to rethink your priorities.
Good God that is a weird thing to write.

While I disagree, an exhibition game would be really cool for Ames (bulls golden state? All 3 Ames boys in hilton) I have to admit I laughed pretty hard at this post.CycloneFanatic.com @cyclonefanatic 2m2 minutes ago
Hoiberg says it would be great to get the Bulls to Ames for an exhibition game.
Yes, please make love to your new boyfriend on my couch in front of me. I don't think Fred gets it.
Not true. Knowing someone that talks to the family, the kids are excited their Dad is the Bulls coach.
He might as well have peed on my dog. That would actually be a lot better than losing him as basketball coach at ISU.
And yes, Fred made a BUSINESS decision. You are exactly right. That's what hurts. BUSINESS trumped loyalty to school in this. That's what hurts.
I think we all hoped Fred was "different". That he loved Iowa State more than anything and wouldn't dump us like a Gene Chizik did. But nope, in the end he wasn't any different. That's what hurts.
Its cute that you think he's your friend
Sorry so much that I used a girlfriend METAPHOR to explain how awkward that presser felt to me....But I'll go back in my little corner, rethink my priorities and hope to come out like the shining example of human you so clearly are....
Struck a nerve I see.
Why would you want an AD with no experience in college athletics administration?
Fundraising role? Fine. AD? No way.
As I said earlier this week, I think it was a dumb idea to come back and do a press conference. I feel even more that way now.
"Hey guys.... I love it here, but I did look into numerous other jobs over the years, just so you know. I'm a hot commodity. Hopefully someone can come in here and do great things here, just like I did. I'll even treat you guys to Bulls exhibition game right here in Hilton so you can all watch me coach one more time. Wouldn't that be awesome?".
"Oh, and just when I should be putting in a ton of work to get ready for the grueling NBA season this fall, I'm going to come back here for some football games, so you can all get to see me again, AND so I can still do all the things I loved doing while I was here, without actually having to coach your basketball team anymore. It will just be so great for all of us, right?".
Wrong Fred. Just go and do your NBA thing. You have chosen to leave this university behind, so just go. Go make all your money and live happily ever after. It's like you love everything about Iowa State, except coaching their basketball team. You quit on these guys before accomplishing basically any of your goals. Go live your "dream". It's like college kids that go back home every weekend and hang out at their old high school. Don't do it.... just move on.
Well... clearly there are some on here that expect... no... DEMAND that everyone on here think, feel, and act exactly as they do. (The holier than thou crowd) Oh... you have a dissenting opinion? How wrong you are sir for having those thoughts and opinions contrary to mine so let me ridicule you for that.
The point of this board is for Cyclone fans to share their opinions... not to be ridiculed (by mods no less) because their opinions don't align with what others expect them to have. It's quite funny really.
That's where I think you are wrong, in some aspects anyway.
I hold Bill Self, Coach K, Tom Izzo, etc in very high regard. They haven't jumped to the NBA for the money and fame, and title. They are happy where they are. I admire that more than the guy who jumps from school to school to NBA, back to school, back to NBA, etc, etc, etc.... only to cash in and nothing more.
I admire the likes of Coach K and John Wooden much more than really any NBA coach.
No I just think its funny to see all the people that act like he's their personal friend.
