Now I'm confused, he made $1.7m base salary, $50k conference championship, $50k NCAA bid, $25k per win so that comes out to $1.85m for 2014. $2.6 must be what he would have made the last year of the contract, with an average of $2m/yr.

So $1m saved is way off.

Confirmed my math here:
http://db.desmoinesregister.com/state-salaries-for-iowa

That's not his base. That is IL his isu income doesn't include camps and other guaranteed income.

Not blaming Jeremy by any means and I appreciate his info, but he also said that he thought Prohm blew it by being too confident that he would get the job the night before the hiring was announced.

The info was great and better than nothing, but you're only as good as your source. Circumstances change.
JP also said they put out some intentional misdirection to protect the candidate so they could tell the players first. It didn't work but explains the Prohm is out stuff.

Is it going to get ugly on this board each time we loose a game? Feels like some are going to be discontent with anything short of fred. And even he hit a rough patch of a couple ugly losses.

I'm very glad with the progress being made and look forward each day to updates. Thanks to allth CF staff for all they do.

Count on it. If Prohm struggles he will be devoured by Naysayers.

Pfft....no.

I'm not even a huge fan of the hire but the time to talk about that is now. Once the games start I'll be back spending too much time shooting down naysayers.

FWIW, Prohm started following TJ on Twitter today. That looks promising.

That is a good sign. Thing is this late in the game, there are not lots of job openings. TJ can take a check and sit out a year, and CSP, can continue to try and search for an assistant.

I know the interview for the same job thing is weird, but I am guessing both are business men and if ISU does as well as is expected this year, both will benefit.

Just speculation, but I bet TJ was not initially wanting to commit to staying after his contract. He is getting paid $200k+ this year regardless. Not out anything by playing his hand. He'll get it if he stays & if Prohm doesn't like the lack of long term commitment, fire him & he still gets it.

Hopefully if he stays he will be here longer than 10 months. Just guessing that he won't be though.

Yeah, he wants head coach money.

Especially since we didn't get Chew, we should open the pocketbook up for TJ. 300k+. Then find some cheapo who knows some juco people

Tj isnt ant getting a raise. He's on contract for a year. He can Quit. He can coach at Isu. Or he can try to get a Hc job at some very small mid major job making less. There are no other options. Pretty sure all other P5 asst staffs are filled. Last option is he's let go and sits then finds a good gig next year while getting paid. I don't see him getting a raise unless he commits to 2-3 years here.

If Prohm wants TJ to stay at ISU, then why not give him a raise? TJ is a very valuable asset to have, and IMO is worth giving a raise to if he would stay. But it's up to Prohm.

We're saving money with Prohm instead of Hoiberg, so I don't see a problem with giving TJ a 50k to 80k raise or so?
