Agree. I'm not taking sides,... nor have any idea who wants to stay/go, or isn't/ is asked. But wouldn't it be nice to give our new coach some courtesy with hires and welcome whomever with open arms to cyclonenation?

That money is going to get used up fast. It isn't cheap to hire coaches, then you have to keep paying assistants that are not hired back, and I am sure there are other costs that will cut into that.

we just saved $1 million per year on our head coach, throw out an extra $150k to get the guy your head coach wants.

Over the average salary, haven't seen Prohm's deal to know if he gets less in year 1 and it increments every year like Fred's. That $2.6 mil was Fred's average salary if he stayed til 2023.

sorry, we are saving $900k. Fred got $2.4 last year.

Now I'm confused, he made $1.7m base salary, $50k conference championship, $50k NCAA bid, $25k per win so that comes out to $1.85m for 2014. $2.6 must be what he would have made the last year of the contract, with an average of $2m/yr.

So $1m saved is way off.

Confirmed my math here:

So was the $600k raise not in the '14 numbers? It's too hard to sort through contract articles when Fred got a raise every year and recently went to the Bulls.

Just a guess but it may be somewhat of a moving target based on how the numbers are reported (fiscal year). Of course one basketball season runs into two different calendar year so unless ISU reports its pay on a calendar that runs along with the basketball season, or someone at USAToday is manually calculating salaries based on reading the actual contracts, the numbers will be off.

That was a long winded way of saying it's probably very complex.

I'm pretty sure the $2.2 mil for 2015 on USA today is the total contract/year, not what Fred was actually making with his $100k increases each year.

His base compensation was $375k + actual compensation $1.225m = $1.6m with his first $100k raise in '14 for $1.7m. $150k in bonuses for $1.85m. So '15 would have been $1.8m plus $100k bonuses for $1.9m. The contract year ends on April 30th for basketball coaches, or at least it did for Fred.

Actually FWIW, Jeremy said the exact same thing.

Not blaming Jeremy by any means and I appreciate his info, but he also said that he thought Prohm blew it by being too confident that he would get the job the night before the hiring was announced.

The info was great and better than nothing, but you're only as good as your source. Circumstances change.

Is it going to get ugly on this board each time we loose a game? Feels like some are going to be discontent with anything short of fred. And even he hit a rough patch of a couple ugly losses.

I'm very glad with the progress being made and look forward each day to updates. Thanks to allth CF staff for all they do.

Some of the same people were probably discontent with Fred when any adversity struck.

It gets ugly on the internet after any loss, no matter who the coach or the team.

I really doubt he's still under contract. JP and everyone else know that Charlie is with the Bulls. Why would you want an assistant that isn't going to be in Ames next year recruiting?

Has he resigned? I will just be ticked if we have to buy him out.
