I gotta second the player retention thing. It's not a knock on Prohm but I can't give credit for player retention. As just posted we are a pre season top 10 team. Highly unlikely anyone bolted. We did lose some recruits but that's goes back on FH and no fault of Prohm.

I will say "happy" because I think when he came in was bad timing, transfer period was kinda wrapped up (mostly) and the coaching carasouel(sp?) had pretty much stopped spinning. Seeing him in on some of the kids he is (and the Carter commit) were definitely some bright spots that were need.

I understand the "so far" so my happy is based solely on that condition. We'll truly know after 2016/17. I don't expect top 10 preseason but he should be able to recruit enough to reload and get us at least dancing. A low seed is fine as long as we're "in".
Do you remember what happened when we got rid of Morgan? What about the entire McDermott era, where we had talented players leaving the program for various reasons all the time-- Justin Hamilton (say what you will about him as a Cyclone, dude was talented), Wes Johnson, Mike Taylor, etc. It happens all the time in college hoops these days. Prohm kept everyone from last year that he could and now we have the chance to be a top 10 team.

If two players out of our top eight had left, I doubt we'd be considered a top 10 team by anyone.

Can I change my vote after this last game? Dude is a bum. Disgracing the Iowa State tradition and we shouldn't stand for this. We can do better.

I am uncomfortable with all the boring people who are uncomfortable talking religion or politics. Is everybody supposed to be a smug, indignant Today show host? Good Grief. Life would be boring without the Chiziks and Knights and other freaks. Different is Good! Tolerance before Victory. Diversity makes us stronger...just ask a Herzegovinian.
Prohm King is rocking us a stairway to Heaven....So get your Seuss on even if he gives a valedictorian speech and dare speak of a Creator.
I don't care if you talk about it or if he does. But as a teacher/coach at a public instutution he shouldn't be peddling god on people he has authority over. It is wrong, plain and simple.

Meh, no one will know whether the coaches he hired are good hires for another 2-3 years. And what did he have to do to retain players besides be the coach of a team expected to be preseason Top 10? I don't see anyone on the roster that's going to transfer no matter who was hired. Several of the players have already used their redshirt season transferring TO Iowa State so they'd lose a year of eligibility if they left. So yeah, there really isn't anything to talk about in those regards. That's why the conversation meanders to the whole "group prayer before games" topic. It's really the only "rate it now" thing to debate.

You have an uphill battle to fight if your stance is "we don't know if keeping Otz on staff was really a good thing" and it wasn't just that he kept players but from all accounts none are disgruntled and appear to like him as a coach and person. I am interested in seeing what you want to discuss today considering we have "actual results of basketball games" now:spinny:

Sadly, there are a few cyclone fanatics who are more tolerable of a moral pigpen and cesspool of iniquity than they are of those of who espouse the virtues of moral integrity, trust and faith.

Way up there
Ask me after the game in Lawrence, KS

More appropriate answers would be " Ask me after the games in Lubbock, Ft Worth, Stillwater, Des Moines" Losing those games would tell much more about Coach Prohm than losing at a place we (and nearly everyone else who plays there) loses. Especially when the game in Lawrence will be against one of the top 3 teams in the country.

But the post was in response to, are you happy with the coach. If he does a decent job, then we will likely loose that game. If he is a great coach (and a person is happy that he got hired) then we should win. To get to the final four, you need to be able to win in Lawrence.

Agreed, no coach should promote the cesspool by teaching young minds to pray. They can find the cesspool all by themselves.
