Didn't Wisconsin just offer a week ago? If I were a kid I don't think I would be that confident so quickly to commit to a school a week after getting an offer.

Yeah, so much for my thoughts about needing to build relationships longer. Or even times when I thought it was best to have a recruit's first visit. If Wisconsin can sweep in that late and just get the guy then you wonder how much meaning one can get out of his dad's post-visit comments back in early August. Who knows tho, being an Ohio kid, maybe he's always wanted to play in the Big 10 so Illinois & Wisconsin have that going for them too, Hasn't each visit followed with a crystal ball to the very school that was just visited? Guessing CW knows... Doubt he puts it out like what he did if not. Darn.

Count on us being a casualty of Monte Morris' future. UW has Koenig who can move to the 2 next year...Xavier does not want to take a chance at sitting his freshman year, even though learning behind MM would do wonders for him ( like MM learning from Kane)

I wouldn't exactly say MM learned from Kane. He started over half the season, and was one of the crucial pieces down the stretch.

What is Wisconsin's PG situation? I'd be upset if they beat us on him and K. King..

Not to in depth, I was looking a Badger Message Board and they must have a need a PG. UW had one scholarship available and 4 PG offers out they were focused on, it appeared that Xavier was 3rd on their fan priority list. That could be a result the offer only coming up last week though, they have been following the other 3 for much longer.

All signs point to UW but, X didn't commit on Sunday but decided to talk it over with his family and wait a few days, perhaps Prohm can convince on ISU. In reality, ISU needed one of Jackson or Simpson for next years team a second PG is gravy. Prohm has a number of other floor general targets he can move on too. Ideally that would be XS but the staff can plan accordingly after Wednesday.

I would say Monte learned a great deal being behind Kane from the start of practice through over half the season.

Hopefully we can get Strong to commit after this weekend, we needed to get one of the three PG targets and a getting a second would be a big plus

Have you read any interviews with Monte? He always talks about how beneficial it was going head to head against Kane everyday in practice and how it prepared him for Big 12 play. He credits that to his success late freshman year. Bob the funny thing is he would not have come if he knew Kane would be here ( post grad transfer) as he was initially ****** when ISU brought Deandre in.....

He learned a ton from DeAndre. Just because Monte was a key part of the team his freshman year doesn't mean that he didn't learn from him. In fact, if you listened at all to Monte being interviewed that year, he repeatedly mentioned how much he learned from DeAndre. (And I think it was much more than lip service because that summer Monte was not too happy that Iowa State signed him)

Just throwing a positive scenario out there. Maybe simpson thought he'd check out Wisconsin and when he saw a big program cant give him what he could get at isu he decided its time to just sign with the good guys

Doesn't sound like that's the case from the social media from some of the recruiting gurus

Agreed just throwing a last chance scenario out there. Get sick of seeing these top programs doing zero recruiting then swooping in and offering last second after isu offers then the recruit signing with them a few days after their offer when we've been recruiting them for a while

I get what you're saying. I should have worded my post different. MM didn't exactly learn UNDER Kane. MM was a huge part of that team all season. I'm not sure X would have near the role MM did as a freshmen, especially now that Jackson has committed.

If MM comes back, it's completely possible that X is the third pg, and its not guaranteed that there will be a bunch of 2 guard minutes either.

If he in fact ends up choosing Wisconsin , I guess we should't be surprised. After all, we've been hearing for months about a couple of guards that fans wanted to commit to Michigan State so they wouldn't have to come after guys we had built up good relationships with. Unfortunately, the rich will still get richer in the world of basketball recruiting too. Really seemed like we were lead to believe we were standing real well in the XS camp. If that was the case, then I still think it would be 1 of 3 things for him to eat up such a late offer and commit to Wisc now. 1. All along he's been a big10 fan, or 2. He questions whether Monte's leaving plus JUCO Jackson already on board. or 3. Two back-to-back final 4's had some understandably mighty big impressions.

Right at the time of the day work starts dragging. Hopefully he picks isu and not Wisconsin and make the day drag more
I feel like its between Illinois and Wisconsin.
Easy to take Miami out, official visit was set up for next week and was canceled. I think the school was just thrown into the mix.
I'd love for him to come to Iowa State, however, this timing with him committing and Darrion Strong visiting really makes me think we are out.

I doubt Strong visiting has anything to do with it ( that has been scheduled for awhile), but the combination of Jackson committing and Monte's Sr year a question mark probably killed us.....

makes getting a freshman for 2017 imperative, or a younger sit out transfer key ( especially if Strong commits) as we have to have someone groomed for the future ( and another judo transfer may be unlikely if we have 2 SR Pgs ahead of them in 2017...

As easy as it is to dislike Duke, I am still upset at Koenig and Bo Ryan for complaining about the elbow to Koenig's jaw in the championship game. He was beat. Tyus Jones stopped and jumped straight up for a shot. Koenig ran into his elbow with his jaw trying to catch up. It was the correct call 100 out of 100 times.
