I am dumber for having read a portion of that....I am sure it was written while sitting in a tavern in some Eastern Iowa ******** next to a jar of pickled eggs.

Stupid article, only reason this game "means nothing" is because of their cream puff schedule. ISU needs this game on the way to bowl eligibility, that's why we care. Hell, Iowa could go 0-4 in preseason and still get bowl eligible playing Big10 west teams. We have to run the big12 gauntlet of 9 games.

I realize this isn't going to be remotely popular in this thread and on this board, but here goes. I spend a bunch of time on Hawkeye boards, coming over here just before the football and basketball games to get a sense of the feelings of Cyclone fans on their teams. I don't talk trash and I enjoy a respectful discussion of the games.

Almost all of the posters on the Hawkeye boards do not have the same attitude that this random blogger seems to have. Do most Hawkeye fans believe we should have won the game last year? Absolutely!! That's simply being a fan. There has been a discussion on Hawkeyereport about the future of Rhodes, but it focuses on how long he can survive when most of his major accomplishments have been wins over Iowa. That's a fair discussion. There has also been a considerable amount of preview on the game, with many of the predictions, maybe 50% picking the Clones.

I guess my point is that there is a bunch of hate on this board on Iowa. I get it. Rivals and all that. My question would be, do you even care about the game? Little discussion. Almost no analysis and game preview. You have a multiple page thread that seems to be primarily aimed at hurling obscenities at Iowa and its fans. Really?

You realize you're doing the exact same thing as what this article is doing? Is it ingrained in hok DNA?

Beating a mediocre B1G team is in no way a major accomplishment

The Iowa game is important for Rhoads' job security because it is one of the most winnable on the schedule. It is a great opportunity to get a win early in the year and help the team get to bowl eligibility. That is why it is so important. Winning the game and going 2-10 does him no good, despite what Hawk fans think. Winning the game and going 6-6 or 7-5 makes it an important win. The tone and superiority complex displayed by the blogger is disgusting, by the way!

It's always funny that they think we were satisfied with last year.

They spend enough time on Cyclone Fanatic, you'd think they would know better.

Wait, did I just say that? Like they have any sort of common sense of ability for critical thinking. Or the ability to read, for a lot of them.

I would say the Iowa game in 2011 is Rhoads best win over Iowa, and that is his 5th best win, IMO. Wins that were better:

2011 OSU
2010 @ Texas
2009 @ Nebraska
2009 Minnesota (bowl game)

Starting the article out with..

"I hate their fans who are perfectly happy with winning 2 games a year if one of the wins is against Iowa."

really kills his article. I didnt even bother finishing the read. The Iowa fans who say this are insecure d-bags. There isn't one ISU fan out there that thinks this way. We all want a good team with a good bowl win. These types of bloggers and posters are ignorant.

The author of that piece reminds me of a party-line politician.

He hit every.single.talking.point from the past 2-3 decades.

Lazy "journalism", IMO.

It's common knowledge that Kirk & Co. lurks on the board looking for a game plan. We're not giving anything away.
