Sorry this is basically a repost from the game thread, but it's specifically about CPR.

This Toledo team isn't good, and even for their standard, they played like a hot mess tonight. A middle of the pack, or heck even below average, team would've cruised to an easy win. This was just a **** show all the way around. This season is a waste. Even if we get a new coach (and Lord have mercy on us all if we don't), it will take a year or two to "implement the system" or some other lame excuse to suck. So we are looking at a minimum of a 4-5 year stretch of being **** at FB.

It's pathetic. The standards are not high here. Go to a crappy bowl game most years and don't get routinely embarrassed by the big boys. For a Power 5 job, it's such a low bar to climb considering we now have the budget, facilities, and stadium that we should be able to easily do it, but we can't. ISU football is a joke.

A little dose of reality for the mediocrity-loving ISU fans:
- our football team has sucked for a number of years
- the "wait till next year" argument is nauseating
- nice guys don't equate to wins
- we choke every chance we get
- this is all about coaching

At what point do we demand better?

Well adversity hit us with the blocked punt, and while we were able to take the game to overtime - this team continues to prove that it is mentally weak. Sorry Rhoads, you were shooting us a bunch of BS at the beginning of the season in regards to this team and its improved mentality. Penalties galore that took us out of great field position, a kicker muffing a chip-shot FG to win the game (by contrast, their frosh hit a pressure-packed FG to force double OT), crappy blocking much of the night, a 5-yr senior holding onto the ball for eternity, do I need to go on. Why do your teams seem to fold EVERY time the pressure is on? Coaching (first and foremost) and an accompanying mental weakness.

In all honesty, what do we have to lose by getting rid of Rhoads now instead of the end of the season? I'm not sure how much extra we'd save by leaving him in charge for 9 more games, but I sure don't think switching head coaches mid-season is gonna cost us any losses that we wouldn't already get.

Firing mid-season or end of season doesn't really matter. Either way this season is lost. You can still look for a new coach while Rhoads is here so who cares when he gets fired as long as there is a new coach next year.

I want to see an empty stadium next home game.....we as fans need to send a message. Be a cyclone I can deal with mediocrity, this is just plain embarrassing

Why not try to score a TD on the last drive of regulation? What was it, close to a minute left and they run clock instead of at least trying for a TD.

His system blows... I want Richardson benched because I cannot stomache the idea of him holding any records at our school. It is not all his fault but I guarantee Meyer or Arnaud would have us winning games. Heck Tiller would have won more games by now even though he wouldnt have looked as statistically good.

As I mention before, CPR was a D-Coordinator for Pitt on a team that lost to Iowa State in Insight Bowl.

That right there should tell you all you need to know about CPR which Pollard did not check out at the time when he hired CPR.

Fire now and audition Mangino for the job. I'm sure he'll fail so you can get rid of him also at seasons end. At least see what the fat man can do, because CPR is done.

Classic McCarney ball......only win by 3 points. It is classy and gets you back slaps/neck pulls with the good 'ol boys. I agree whole-heartedly.
Paul will be a wealthy man. He has made more already than most of the farmers/accountants/engineers etc...that have ISU diplomas. He will be happy in his next endeavor and we all wish him that too...sincerely. Time for Leath to step in and re-negotiate a severance and just start over.....of course, I was saying this after the Liberty Bowl AFTER he made no changes then. He seems to be more concerned about being a good part of the coaching fraternity and ISU needs something different. We need Belicek with a switchblade and some cyclone blood in him so he stays.

We got just about every call and lucky break tonight. On top of that Montgomery lays out over the middle for an amazing catch. Final drive goes our way and all that is need is a good angle for a game winning field goal. Rhoads can't buy a win and it's not "bad luck", it's him. Sorry. Wish it could have been otherwise but that's what it is.

@TravisHines21: Rhoads on Toledo being the favorite tonight: I didn’t feel we were underdogs coming into the game. And I would stand by that after the game.

I would have agreed with you at the end of last year, but I think Mangino is a spent force. Promote Linquist and see if we can get a spark for 2-3 more wins.

Because Mangino has done so well with his offense?
