It's troubling that people put their full faith in what amounts to the opinions of unnamed sources. Especially when the opinions are those of ex-assistant coaches with sour grapes. Hines' story provided no context. Making no attempt to quantify how long the team spent in the ballroom/not explaining that travel money for families was used to get families to Hawaii rather than the NCAA tournament. Hines went out looking to write a certain story and he manipulated the facts. Now it's clear many fools have bought the story hook, line, and sinker.
It's really troubling that people would actually believe Hines made this up and there's no truth to it. The Tribune wouldn't let him publish this without some very credible sources.
