The rest were in the pool, according to unnamed sources.

But seriously, shouldn't the onus be on the one making allegations to offer evidence? I'd say the picture posted above in addition to what Fred said is sufficient to discredit the hotel allegations. Or even Fred's comments alone.

The one making the allegations did offer evidence. The corroborated testimony of unnamed sources. You're free to believe or disbelieve. If just two players were too tired to do anything but sleep, and had nowhere to sleep but on luggage on the floor of a ballroom, then the allegations were true. It's been proven that the players were told to checkout rather than stay in their rooms.
It doesn't seem to be a very high bar to jump. I choose to believe.

The article said something about a ballroom filled with bodies. Seems like a stretch. I don't doubt that there is some truth to some of the allegations. Pollard is slippery as they come. Last night I posted a Pollard tweet from last year touting Hoiberg's "top 10 public university salary"....and Pollard had just been on the radio saying that the university never portrayed Hoiberg's salary that way, and it was media sources.

But the hotel part just seems ridiculous. I do agree that one's free to believe or not believe.

The hotel part *is* ridiculous. I believe it to be blown out of proportion, but I also believe it to be true.

The other allegations in the article are the ones that make me angry.

Good Iowa State Daily Article

I didn't have time to read all the posts so maybe this has been posted. As usual the Iowa State Daily does a good job. I think there is a few new little tidbits in their story on the subject. It seems the general view is the unnamed sources must be former employees however I believe from reading between the lines that at least a player or former player would be the only person who would be privy to some of the information that was reported in the story. Whether the information is true or not isn't of importance to a person with an agenda. Of course I have no sources, it's just my story and I'm sticking to it.

Good reporting by the Iowa State Daily and it didn't take them 4-5 months to write it.

Nice pool photo!

An absolutely shocking photo has emerged of the players sleeping on the ball room floor using luggage as beds and pillows at the alleged time (26th December 2013, approx. 4 PM)

Fredhaw.jpg

Wow, I don't see anyone sleeping on baggage waiting for a flight. Where's the ballroom? Hmmmm... Hines, it's looking worse and worse for you.

"True" but less than insignificant. Exactly as much impact to me as saying the were only able to eat the free continental breakfast and not order off the menu. If the players are complaining that they had to do something every other traveler in the entire world has done a time or 2, they can cry themselves to sleep on their wee little pillows. If it was from some assistant coaches, screw them and their entitled selves.

The other allegations - you know the ones proven patently false - are EXACTLY the kinds one hears in EVERY OFFICE IN AMERICA. Random snotty comments about your boss or your company but means exactly zero when packaged in Hines tidy little gift. Fred wasn't staying and season ticket prices HAD to be raised to pay for the salary Fred and his agent lobbied for but never once went public about. If you want your cake sometime you have to eat in in front of others.

Don't give me that ****. Kansas has a frigging set of basketball luxury suites. We're competing against the big boys now, and we're going to continue losing recruiting battles. We've had it with this nickel and dime ****. How is Coach supposed to take care of his players with no hot water and no therapy? Hopefully he's going now to go get that ***** on the phone.

Didn't I see somewhere where the basketball program made the Hawaii arrangements anyway?

That ballroom also looks miserable.

Really? The basketball game was at 3:55 pm.

This wasn't a night game. Even after the awards ceremony and dinner every player had plenty of time to get a good night's rest before having to get up and check out of their hotel room at the ungodly hour of noon.

I see two, possibly three, players in that photo. It doesn't do a thing to knock the assertion that some other players were tired and slept on their luggage on a ballroom floor.

Yeah but do you know how much research, FOI requests, and digging it took to uncover that photo? It's not like it was publicly available....oh wait.

The Kansas AD budget is near $100 million.

Our budget is near $70 million, which about doubled from when JP was hired. Newer TV contract has helped big time.

We have one preseason top 10 team, that's great, but we are not Kansas. Spending money we don't have will not make us Kansas.

Here's an idea instead of pointing your outrage at the AD, point it at the coaching staff, mainly Micah Byers (the guy who ALL the players love) because he was Director of Basketball Operations and makes ALL travel arrangements for the basketball team.

Here's a little inisght too, we do not have Kansas' basketball budget and can not spend money like they do.

Does anyone remember when the football team was sleeping in the hallways of the airport on their way to a Bowl game because of weather? No one got them a hotel room and there was no big uproar about it.

Re: Nice pool photo!

Did you notice the pool doesn't even have a SLIDE?

I missed that! Now that would be really roughing it! How did Hines ever miss that, that would have been a coup de gras to put at the grand finale of his article.

Director of Basket ball operations makes ALL travel arrangments for the basketball team, just like the Director of Football Ops does for football. The AD is not involved. The AD gives each sport their budget and it is up to the coaches to decide how that budget is used.

Ya that might be true but how do you know he doesn't have to submit a plan to the AD and get it approved? And if anything happens and something needs to get done on the fly then it has to go back to the AD because it wasn't in the original plan. Not saying it does but there's a million things that are at play here and a lot of people are pretending like they know exactly how things work and paint with a really nice "prove it" brush.

I'm just saying this because ESPN had a big hand in paying for this trip so I'm wondering if they were also in on the travel planning side?
