Problem is we have a tough schedule remaining and will not likely be favored at all. I suspect we will beat Texas (although even that is not a for sure thing), and if we get hot at the end of the year, could beat K-State and WVU, especially if those teams tank it in. We are unlikely to beat Tech, Okie, and OSU, and are not going to beat TCU or Baylor. So very unlikely to get to 5 wins, and extremely unlikely to get to 6 wins. Here is to trying. Hope we get hot. Even 4 wins might be hard. I think that Toledo game was the nail in the coffin for CPR. We win that game and we have a shot at 5 or 6 wins. If we get 4 wins, that will mean 3,2,and 4 wins in year 5,6,and 7 respectively. No coach can survive that. Vegas wouldn't even put odds on that.

Yes, that is the problem. And when you've got a coach that in his seventh year has not begun to solve that problem, well, as Yogi said, you've got a problem.

Wins and losses are the ultimate barometer, but I'm not sure how you can say Iowa State has been inept or incompetent through four games. Good chat!

I've been as hard as anybody on the current Head Coach, but I am intrigued by this year's team.

What if....
...Warren is the real deal
...The defense continues to gel (looking at you Thomas, Harris, Jones, Harvey, and Peavy)
...The OL settles down and avoids the injury bug
...Allen Lazard becomes the dominant player we know he can be
...we find a tight end who catches the ball and blocks
...the team as a whole continues to improve instead of regress....
and finally... Sam becomes a game manager

could be an interesting next few weeks. It all starts with Texas Tech. Get a win in Lubbock and this becomes a much happier place.

I am cautiously optimistic too, OP. I see a team with an improved defense - particularly the talent on the defensive line - from last year. I also see players playing hard all game and a running attack that has come out of nowhere the past two weeks. Count me as one who hasn't thrown in the towel yet and will still be there cheering hard at Jack Trice in two weeks.

It is a shame that a missed field goal keeps this team from being 3 - 1. I honestly think we can still get to 5 wins, but winning at Tech would seem to be key to get there.

I just hope the people calling for Rhoads' head will continue to support the team and all those student-athletes playing their butts off each week. They deserve it.

I know our defense looked improved. I know our offense looked better. I know the coaching was...well, the coaching. I know some of you are thoroughly excited at how we can build off of this win. But I remind you all of one thing...

It was Kansas.

in spite of the improvements on the offense and the defense, the conference slate will be a slog....but as long as the team works hard and strives to improve, if they don't give up in the face of implacable opposition, we'll see PR and staff here next season....as for TTU......every boxer has a puncher's chance.......

I know that we aren't Alabama but our expectations run in the 4 to 7 wins region. Our best case would get many coaches fired if they can't do better within a couple of years. Our expectations are as low as they come. That is a terrible excuse. This team could easily be 4-0 with a couple of good bounces. Unfortunately, every game in front of us is against far superior teams. We will have to play much better to win another one. Hope it happens a few times...

Just think how young and inexperienced we still are, we will only getting better and I expect us to knock a few off. I think we will be pretty darn good next year.

I think you mean the year after next year, because next year we are going to have a young and inexperienced QB
