He better be on the list that's for sure. I do like his offenses. One advantage of Frost is he has Midwest ties. What we need is an offensive coach who can recruit and develop a great QB. I'll say it again and again....put Seneca on this team and this team is prob 4-1...without question.

I agree with this.

Damn just saw that. My bad. Here's the link to the Lincoln Star Journal's commentary on that article:

LSJ Exclusive: Frost Talks Coaching Philosophy, Next Moves

That is true, but they did recently post this article, which I thought was a good read:

Des Moines Register: Frost May Have Interest, But Rhoads Says He's In For The Long Haul, Pollard Backs Rhoads

The first one I "liked" before I clicked because I knew what I was clicking, and I wasn't disappointed. I clicked the other two because I wanted to know what was actually linked. Well played, everyone.

I'd be shocked, especially after he's the man Nebraska fans were wanting and didn't pull in.

Frost could probably do bigger and better.

Honestly, I just want to go after this Cole Mine Colorado guy.

I sure hope Leath gets involved in our next football coach hire like he did in the hiring of prohm. I'm not sure I trust pollard

Feel free to add your own ideas, (absolutely No bashing CPR...) after all, this is a fan discussion board. CPR won't hold on to the job forever, nor will the coach after him, etc...

Have a read... (I like him) and I know him. And someday he's going to be very successful.

As intriguing as he may seem, I say NO F-IN' thanks..... I am tired of giving first-time head coaches On-The-Job training. Find a guy who knows how to be "the man." Preferably someone who is a proven winner at a lower level program. There are plenty in those ranks who would job at a P5 job...... even when it's one of the worst in the nation.

Oh I'm 100% certain Leath will be involved as will our search committee. Usually an AD is allowed 1 bad fball hire and gets a pass. Pollard has had 2. I'm not sure I even want Pollard doing the interviewing. One thing is for sure...for the sake of this program and possibly keeping Isu in a P5 conference in 5-10 years this next hire will be the most important in school history.

I feel we are in for a rough transition whomever it is, that new SEZ project has a price and it may be that JP looks down to KU and sees their coaching woes of 5 years and empty seats and will be gun shy with getting rid of CPR. Reality is they are already pumping kool-aid to us for next year with recruiting of talent. CPR will be on the side lines and we will be back with another fan thread

I don't trust Leath. He likes sticking his nose in everyones business constantly. Way too involved with a successful basketball program.

You protect your valuables. Jamie is the one who is suspect at his point. I don't see clandestine articles about Leath's leadership right now...

A young, electric personality: A guy who 1) has an excellent reputation as a recruiter, 2) will go after top-notch JUCOs to build the program.

Why? Every coach knows his X's and O's, but recruiting is the lifeblood of any P5 program. A flock of outstanding high school kids will be difficult to land until the program wins, so build it with top-flight JUCOs looking for a quality place to land and play immediately.

That is all.

IF Leath gets involved, and the next coach sucks just as much as CPR, everyones going to blame...Jamie Pollard.

Hiring a coach is the AD's job. His greatest involvement should be hiring and firing an AD, and making sure anyone the AD hires would make a great ambassador for the university.

Bring Mack Brown back to Ames. He has lots of experience as a P5 head coach, was been a proven winner, has recruited well especially in Texas. He is a young eager coach. (well younger than Bill Snyder).

I never like bringing in old coaches after they've been fired from high profile jobs. They come in a bit mentally drained. Nor do they realize the severity of recruiting constraints that schools like Iowa St face.

Mack Brown tried to recruit kids to come to ISU when he was an assistant coach here before. He is well aware of the constraints Iowa State faces. Other older coaches outside of the Big 8/12 I will give you that.

Just need a recruiter. A big name that kids flock to for football advice. Simple as that. Only other options are the anomaly, say like a 'Hoiberg' hire were to occur or someone that builds a system like Bill Snyder.

I'd be ok with Brown if it's a two three year deal where he brings his successor in for otj training. Say for instance Applewhite is his OC/headcoach in training type of thing. He would be here as the figure head for a few years to bring in talent then step aside. But I wouldn't bet that any Head coaches ego would allow such a thing.
