In the second half, when your guys knew they had no chance, it's understandable that they stopped caring.
It was pretty evident early on in the second half we wouldn't be able to match Iowa's talent, intensity, coaching, O-line, D-line, secondary, RBs, special teams, QB play, WR play, all day.
I'd say you've lost your marbles but I don't think you started with all of them to begin with.
Fixed it.

Ok then.... tell me where I'm wrong? ISU was up 17-10 on Iowa at the half, and it should have been worse. Beathard escaped a safety in that first half by a couple inches or IMO it would have at least been 19-10, but more likely either 22-10 or 26-10 after we received the kick back after the safety.
Even without that though, we still had the ball and were tied with about 3 mins left. Iowa and ISU could hardly have been more two even teams that day on the football field. It was close the entire game.
So IMO, we'd have a decent shot at winning the Big 10 West too, just like Iowa does. Tell me where I'm wrong.

Nah, Iowa just wanted it more. Good season so far for you guys, that really sucks about Ott though
We didn't stop caring until Sam threw that horrible INT with about a minute and a half left with Iowa up 7. Game was over at that point, and then we gave up the late garbage TD when a smart coach would have just knelt down and killed the clock instead of running plays and risking a fumble which could have cost Iowa the game.
So... Iowa still would have won 31-26?
How about if Iowa takes the field goal at the half and canzeri doesn't fumble, do I get to count those points, out is it just you who can use hypotheticals?
Ok then, let's take out all the hypotheticals and just deal with what really happened. Was the game not tied with about 3 or 4 mins left? Yes or no? Did Iowa only lead the game for about 3 minutes out of 60?
That is not a dominating win by any definition. Sorry it just isn't.
As for Saturday, Beathard took an absolute beating from Illinois. Iowa looked like a very average team beating a below average team. Of course everyone in the Big 10 West is below average, so there is that.
Sounds about par for the course for you. If you can't refute something, just shake your head instead.
Seriously though, Iowa fans used to poke fun at ISU playing in the Big 12 North which was weak. Well, now we play everyone in our league every year and Iowa is in a VERY weak division of the Big 10.
The Big 10 West is extremely weak. Nebraska, Wisky, and Iowa are the only decent teams in it, and Nebby and Wisky are both down this year. Add to that the fact Iowa doesn't have to even play Ohio State, Michigan State, Michigan, or Penn State.... and you can see why Iowa has one of the easiest schedules in the nation according to most sources.
I wouldn't apologize for the really easy schedule if I were an Iowa fan.... I'd just run with it and enjoy it. You should do the same. Don't even try to come over here and suggest Iowa doesn't have an easy schedule when everyone in the nation knows they do. In fact, there has been talk out there that if Iowa were undefeated this year they might not make the 4 team playoff due to their horrible schedule. That's how bad it is.
Our guys definitely wanted it more. No argument there. Your guys were just defeated mentally and physically, kind of limped out when they realized they didn't have the talent or ability to match up and have a chance. They gave up and decided they didn't really care. I totally agree.
It is a shame about Ott. Hopefully he has a good combine and still has a chance to play Sundays.
I do agree that eventually Iowa wore ISU down. I totally agree with that. For 3 quarters ISU was as good or better than Iowa, but ISU did get tired late in the 4th quarter. Iowa deserved to win. I'm not disputing that at all.
I'm just saying that it was a very good, close, competitive game. Iowa pulled it out in the end because, yes, they are better. But they aren't much better. So IMO, ISU could do very well in the Big 10 West. It is a terrible division of football, especially this year.
And I would love it if ISU didn't have to play TT, TCU, Baylor and OU this year like Iowa gets to escape playing Ohio State, Michigan State, Michigan, and Penn State. That would be awesome!
I never said anything about Iowa's schedule. everyone knows it's fairly easy. what about the other 30 sentences of complete BS that you spewed? it makes you feel better to call me an Iowa fan, go for it. I respect Iowa because they have a freaking IDENTITY as a program. they understand the limitations of a small, white state with 2 other D1 teams and they manage around them accordingly. are they great? no, but they have built a high floor with consistent fundamentals and philosophy so that when things fall right such as a light schedule or some recruits coming through they are able to have some great years. the rest of the time they are mediocre at worst and always COMPETITIVE even if they don't win. 90% of this board hates everything about iowa when in fact they should be the blueprint for success. how would a conference full of teams built to run/defend the wide open B12 offenses handle a smash mouth team that controls the clock and doesn't let you run? you can't rely on athletes from Iowa but you can certainly find linemen, linebackers, and tight ends. we have a 0% chance of recruiting the same level of talent or finding a coaching edge to compete for B12 titles under the current philosophy. nevermind that we don't even have a philosophy.
Iowa and isu were pretty much equals in basketball last year because the game was so close for a half.
Never mind the statistical drubbing and final margin.
Was that basketball game tight right up until the last few minutes? Ok, I didn't think so.
The year before would be a better comparison IMO with Iowa losing right at the end to ISU in Ames. That was a competitive ballgame. Last year, not so much.
Had Iowa built a 21 point lead by the end of the 3rd quarter against ISU in football this year, that would have been the equivalent of the basketball game last year.
Never give up.
