What are some things that you would want out of CSP vs CFH?

Better defense, tougher, slightly less reliance on the 3, less reliance on Georges, a Big 12 regular season championship, a National Title.

-More consistency on defense and the boards.

-Holding players more accountable for mistakes on the defensive end

(I realize these two things go together, but it's tough to be a good defensive team when there is no accountability for lapses, whether they are mental or just due to a lack of effort, and this is the type of stuff that happened all throughout Fred's 5 years on our bench)

I mean this is basketball. Chances are that every team will lose a game they shouldnt when they play 30+ games.

But Texas Tech was inexcusable.
I agree. I also think people should chill about the UAB game.

Better Defense - especially closing out on the 3's.
More consistency or urgency to start games. Do we seriously have to get down by double digits every game?
More energy from the bench. When we have those games like South Carolina, Texas Tech, and UAB the coach needs to explode or do something to at least try and snap players out of it before the last 5 minutes of the game.

If Prohm can be as good as Hoiberg then fans will be lucky. I am not expecting him to be better at anything.

You can't take what happened at the end of last year with slow starts and say it happened the whole time under Fred bc that's not the case.

Eh. Slow starts were pretty common under Fred. He still won the majority, and a lot of them in easy fashion (we were only up 3 against Iowa last year going into halftime before Thomas hit the buzzer beater), but they happened fairly regularly.

I would like us to win a few games, try to find some potential all conference players, ideally maybe a Player of the Year, maybe make it to the NCAA playoffs, make it past the first round of the conference tourney, win a few games at home so we can be proud of something, beat a rival once in a while, sell out Hilton, have a player that would be ranked in the top 50 nationally in some positive category, have recruits ranked in the top 125 show us some interest, maybe even come for an official visit. If most of if not all of these things would happen I would be a pretty happy Cyclone fan.
I feel like your expectations are pretty low. You've been on CF since 2006 and you only have 28 posts

Not really though. It's not a ow start to be up on the road at halftime to a good Iowa team. Just bc they weren't up by 20 does not equal slow start.

Last year at the end of the season we didn't exactly have great starts. Oklahoma, Texas at B12 tournament, UAB, Baylor are a couple that come to mind.

I always thought Hoiberg had two great weaknesses...

--didn't see to care much about defense

--didn't really seem to like recruiting (seemed to outsource most of that to MA and TJ)

I'm all for a manager who likes to delegate, but there's limits to that approach sometimes.

I'm hoping Prohm improves on those while keeping Fred's strengths...

--location A#1 for high-level transfers to consider

--innovative, professional, "pace-and-space" offense that imitates the NBA game

--keep developing great point guards (a Prohm special, from the looks of it)

--passionate but not a screamer, similar sideline personality

--coming to loves Ames and the program just as much... Hilton is a heck of an advantage as a home court and to recruiting, it's a lovely town to focus on basketball, and you're in a top-level conference at a basketball school... I hope Prohm realizes he could have success here for long time and get paid while doing it... Orr, Floyd, Larry, and Fred did it, after all

Have to admit I don't really care how we start a game as long as we close out at the end and win, that is what matters winning. We were very good at closing under Fred. Hopefully we continue that. I don't want to see something like Iowa where they start fast every game and get up big at the half only to wear down by the end and lose. With the pace we play that is a real possibility imo.

What are some things that you would like to see out of Steve Prohm that differ from Hoiberg?

One of the most important components that seemed to be missing from last year’s team was “consistent committed team leadership.â€￾ So, I hope coach Prohm will recognize this deficiency help to develop team leaders and leadership skills.

We need team leaders who are men of unexcelled commitment and as such flat out refuse to accept anything less than the best from themselves. We need team leaders who earn the respect of their teammates by being men of integrity whose positive values, principles, beliefs and unwavering commitment to excellence serves as a positive inspiration for their teammates. We need team leaders who communicate, motivate and strive to build a "winning warrior like team chemistry." When I see a team leader who is willing to dive on the floor after every loose ball, that is a man who earns my respect and that of his teammates. You can’t expect the best from your teammates unless you first expect the best of yourself. At the end of the day, effective leaders dictate the level of their personal success and that of the team!

Maybe since the KU fans were up in arms about CFH's absence of tie, Prohm can roll into Phog in a tux and tails?

I love Fred but I think it could be beneficial to our guys to have a slightly different take on things from Coach Prohm while still adhering to the basic principles of Hoiball.
