3 or more wins = Rhoads is back
2 wins = Rhoads is probably gone but there's a chance he stays
0 or 1 wins = Rhoads is gone

I think a 4-8 finish would be the only one with any drama on the Rhoads front. There's just no way he comes back at 3-9 or 2-10... and I can't see him getting fired by going 3-2 down the stretch against Big 12 competition (not even KU) after he canned one of his coordinators. So 5-7 or better saves him.

I agree but my sense is that two wins and he certainly stays. He's got fat*** to blame for the Iowa and Toledo games (true or not) and it's true that a lot of teams will be HC hunting. Personally, I don't see how next season will be better than this one unless Sturdy is some kind of genius wizard and if he is wtf isn't he already calling the plays?

lol, bowl game or bust is out the window I guess...

Very few thought that was probable that a bowl game was what was needed. Not to be confused with those that thought it SHOULD be bowl or bust.

Thank you...I am so glad Pollard is throwing out the garbage we have seen so far. What an idiotic statement for JP to make.

ISU really got screwed over by keeping Rhoads after last season. As another poster said we are going to be fighting with a lot of other schools for coaches. We are going to be an additional year behind in a building process. This type of thing is something that Iowa State seems to have happen to it all the time. You try and be nice to a guy and now we are going to compete with maybe 30 other schools for a head coach. I know not directly but with that many open coaches are going to think they can get a higher spot then they thought and now won't listen to a school like ISU now. Simply amazing how ISU can not ever get out of its own way.

Pollard isn't throwing out the previous results. Honestly, I'm shocked at how many of the people that want to fire Rhoads think that this statement by Pollard was a bad thing for your cause. It isn't. Two days ago, the general consensus was that Pollard was going to use the Mangino thing to bring back Rhoads no matter what. That's clearly not the case.

I think we've lost to 2 elite teams. 2 very good teams and 1 good team.

We haven't factored in the 2 types of outcomes which many of consider as wins (Type-ISU wins): (i) moral wins and (ii) not the coach's fault we lost type of wins.

Most of us love moral wins. Losing against a top 10 team by less than 3 TDs is a moral win. Losing against Top 10-30 ranked team by less than 2TDs is a moral win.

And then there are those games where we're told that it's not the coach's fault that we lost. Like when the kicker misses an easy game winning FG. Basically a win, isn't it?

1 actual win plus a couple of Type-ISU category of wins should be sufficient for Rhoads to return.

What do our personal expectations have to do with this?
Exactly, nobody's talking about what they think should happen. It's just a discussion about what people think Pollard will do.

He should have to win at least 3 of 5, but he will not, so none of this matters, Rhoads is going to end between 2-10 and 4-8.

Please let's not fall for this again this offseason.

Why do I get the feeling that you threw a fit when we only beat Kansas by 25.

I blame the kicker for Toledo and only one to the manginator.

I think it's hilarious that people think we're actually going to win more than one more game. We're a train wreck. I love Lanning but get ready for the growing pains. Guess I'll just have to wait for the OK game for people to get off this little kool-aid break everyone is on.

Did the Manginator call the idiotic play to set up the kick on the left hash? Cole should have hit it, but that play call was bad.

Yea, I don't get it. Oh well, I'm kinda jealous of these fans that still get excited about Iowa State football. All my hope is gone until Rhoads is gone. I just can't get excited anymore.

I know, doesn't it suck when people are happy?

He should have, but I'm not sure that I blame the coaches for it so much anymore. I think it was idiotic not to center it, but it doesn't matter where Netten kicks from. He consistently misses anything this year.

Eight years ago the guy gets married to the young maiden, haskids. He tells her he is so proud to be her husband. Father-in-law offers him multi-year contract to be his CEO. Soon stops showing up for work and forgetsabout coming home at night to the wife and kids.
On Halloween this year, five days before the 8th wedding anniversary,he promises her he will do his best to be show up for work and come home moreoften. She agrees that if he will behome two nights of the five she will take him back in loving arms.

It's time for PR to coach like he did year 1. He took several chances and worked most of the time. He needs to take those chances again to turn the table and save his job. If your going to go out - go out with a bang swinging for the fence.

He has taken way more chances this year than the past few years. More fake punts, fake field goals, onside kicks...

It's so cool that people can see the future. Amazing. Might as well not even play the games and chalk it up as 3-9!
