Yes. The coaches has it wrong for a long time. It has been said many times that Mark Mangino was given complete control of the offense. It appears there was quite a rift. And ultimately it was the resistance to start Lanning that led to Mangino being fired.

I heard on the Cyclone Reaction Show that Rhoads commented that the firing of Mangino was a difficult one. And that Rhoads had extremely high praise for how assistant coaches Tommy Mangino and Brandon Blaney have performed despite the personal relationship with Mangino in a difficult situation. Rhoads said they are true professionals. Which is kind of cool when you think about it.

From what some have been saying the rift is exactly the opposite you state. Mangino wanted full control of the offense and never had it.

So it was CPR that wanted Richardson at QB??? And it was CPR that was calling the plays???

Yet we fire Mangino. We replace Richardson at QB with Lanning. And the result is that we played the best game we have played all year. We only had one offensive 3 and out. And we converted 15 of 24 third down conversions.

So subtracting Mangino we end up with this offense with Lanning at QB.........sounds like Mangino should have been subtracted earlier IMO.

Your story doesn't really fit reality.

Paul made this point and it is valid- Texas recruits kids that won't even consider Iowa State. Even if they aren't playing together or being well coached, a dominating win over a team with that talent, by a team like ISU, is a significant thing.

With the rise of other Texas schools like TCU, Baylor, A&M, and Houston (a bit), we may never see Texas rise to the their one time fame.

Exactly. I think everyone realizes that Texas has been down for several years. I think most of us were hopeful it would be a close game that we had a chance to win. I think the fact that we dominated them---bad team or not---is something to be happy about. I just keep going back to the fact that Texas crossed the 50 once before the last drive. Once. Kansas routinely crosses the 50 against every team. Hell, our bad offense has done that.

It was a fun, good win. Who knows what it means, but we might as well enjoy it.

In order to believe the story that twojman, you'd have to believe that Rhoads is so crazy that he refused to start Lanning, wanted to be a pass first offense and refused to let Mangino do what he wanted. So he fired Mangino and then did exactly what Mangino wanted to do anyway in order to cover his tracks.

I suppose it is possible, but that's some stupid ****.

I was all for getting rid of CPR....but I really do hope we win a couple more games because we have a ton of talent coming back next year and 2016 is setting up to be what should be a breakthrough year. People will say we as fans have been saying that same thing for years but not at the end of the season. I've not seen an ISU team in a very long while that's been able to run the football like we are now...I've not seen an ISU team in a long time that appears to be getting a lot better toward the end of the year with very young key players..RB, QB..and some on D. WTS..I get the argument that we must win at least one more game..at least...but with what we have coming back and now a young QB that appears to be just what the DR ordered it might be wrong to bring in an entirely new staff that could alter everything offensively and defensively.

One thing is for sure...if we don't make a bowl game this year or next CPR and staff is for sure gone.

How about we just enjoy a great win without this crap being thrown back and forth? Awesome win!

See this post from the first page? There's a reason it has gotten so many likes. We can't even enjoy a win because of garbage like this. Let's just enjoy the rest of the season and let the chips fall. That was a great win and I for one just want to enjoy that. Shutout? Insanely great.

One problem: If the chips fall, they might get dirty from the floor. I might eat them anyway, depending on how clean the floor is, but I might not. I don't want my chips getting ruined.

As off topic as this post is, it is still more relevant to celebrating a huge win than the Rhoads debate that is meant to irritate both sides.

Sign me up, I believe now. Beating this Texas team means something.. Ok it doesn't mean anything actually. We're now both what... 3-5. AWESOME! And avoiding losses to Toledo and Iowa.. ok.. Iowa ran on us and made big plays. We did not. They stuffed the running game and made us try to beat them through the air, which we did not. We suck, Rhodes sucks, and our AD sucks. And all of you fans who think Rhodes is a great coach SUCK.

From the sounds of it he had total control and didn't want to change his ways to suit the players he had. CPR called him out on it and he didn't like what CPR had to say.

We might be one of the few fan bases in the country that have to do this though with JP gifting that huge extension.

But how do we celebrate a win without separating the true fans from the fake fans, shaming other posters, and personal attacks? I'm so confused.
