Rhoads would come off much better praising his kids, just saying he's proud they continue to improve and work their arses off each week, and that he can't wait to get back at it this week. Going off on a rant about how Texas should kick our butts each year doesn't exactly provide me a great feeling. Also, he clearly reads the message boards, which he should never do, and is extremely defensive and feels backed into a corner right now. He's trying to sell himself to remain the head coach. CPR, if the team continues playing the way it did against Texas, you won't have to worry about it.

What's more insulting standing up for your program or have a player flat out say your aren't good, or blaming the loss on your coaching staff because you wouldn't want to give any credit to a team who you view as inferior. You nailed it. I'm sure Charlie Strong took it as an insult.
How can he blame the staff? Did he not sign off on the team plan. Excuses. Excuses. What's more insulting standing up for your program or have a player flat out say your aren't good, or blaming the loss on your coaching staff because you wouldn't want to give any credit to a team who you view as inferior.
And who the **** cares what Charlie Strong thinks.
Hit 'em high. Hit 'em low. Hit 'em where it counts. Go boys.
My goodness some of you can spin anything can't you. Rhoads stands up for his program and just because some u you are a little sensitive you think Rhoads is in the wrong. Unreal
Win a battle, lose the war...it's inevitable, Paul says it himself. Why compete with the Texas' of the world then. Some of you guys reallllllly like "nice" guys a little too much. There's a small faction of "fans" here that are actually upset ISU/Rhoads won last weekend.
Who drank their coffee today? Is there ever a time you would shut the **** up? Maybe 20 minutes or so?
It's all perception, some people hear what they want to hear. For example if someone says "You're a worthless piece of Crap" to you, some people might think this guy hates me, some might think this guy is a jerk, while a few say, "shut up Dad".Win a battle, lose the war...it's inevitable, Paul says it himself. Our last game was with Texas. We looked good. And this Texas team had beaten Oklahoma and K-State the previous 2 weeks and was thought that they had gotten their act together. So it was a VERY good win.
This team looks completely different with Lanning at QB. Let's hope we can keep it going. We have made 2 changes. We have changed the OC and have a new starter at QB. Defense played great and that was even without Cotton-Moya who was out due to injury.
Enjoy the win. And let''s move forward.
This. It was a great week, and it offered some promise of more.
I wish it weren't Oklahoma next, but maybe we take a solid shot at them. Who knows? Maybe it's time to shock the world, or maybe it's just another OU game for us.
Either way, feel free to enjoy a really fun win.

Man, Coach is FIRED. UP. If you want to question his ability, fine. But do NOT think he isn't motivated, is a "lame duck" or is just collecting paychecks. He wants to win more than any of us do.
Give the guy a break, some of you guys act like CPR slept with your wife or something. Texas should beat us every year, he is correct. He is backed into a corner, I am glad he knows it and is trying like crazy to fix it. Honestly, I am not sure what you want him to say. Guy is under a lot of pressure, anyone with any self pride is going to have some emotion. His entire point was despite our kids being less talented, we still won. Nothing wrong with that.
I think I made it clear what I wanted him to say in my post. Also, the players can't find it encouraging that their coach basically said they aren't very good and shouldn't be winning games. How about, "Our program has to work a lot harder to find players that have the potential to play quality football like we did today. Programs like Texas have far more options to choose from. It is extremely rewarding for our players to prove how good they are with statement wins like this one." That is better than, "We shouldn't beat Texas. Their players are better. We are lowly Iowa State. We don't belong here." Okay, that might not be an exact quote, but that is how it came across.
Did I miss where he said our players aren't very good?
Seems like most people here are arguing the assumptions of what he said and how our players feel about it based their very own biases.
