We're 11 weeks into the season, and these are the teams just from the AP top 25 who currently have a weaker SOS than Iowa.

Iowa's SOS will go lower with Purdue and Nebraska. Wisconsin plays an easy schedule as well.

With the backloaded Big 12 schedule every one of those Big 12 teams on your list will have a much higher SOS Okie State finishes with Baylor and Oklahoma. Oklahoma finishes with TCU and Okie State. TCU finishes with Baylor and Oklahoma. And Baylor has Okie State and TCU.

Those are two absolutely monstrous games for all the Big 12 contenders.

So in the top 25 you are 15th in SOS and will only plummet from there. Others will get much better. 3 B1G teams in your list, plus Iowa being the next highest team ommited from your list. Baylor, Okie State and TCU will be much stronger by season's end. Last year, according to Phil Steele, Iowa played the 70th SOS, which fell to 74 after the season was done. This year they open at 62, and I can't imagine it going up much. "Brag" while you can, if you consider your schedule brag worthy. Prior to season Iowa fans laughed at you schedule, now they try passing it off as respectable. It will still be bottom 5-10 P5 schedules in the country.

Obviously those SOS numbers will go up for Big 12 teams. But what you implied is that Iowa hasn't played as a tough schedule. Maybe not, but to date it's still tougher than all those other ranked teams. And if Iowa gets in the B1G title game, it'll jump a bit as well.

Pretty sure an appearance in the B1G title game would help. And I never bragged or said the schedule was brag worthy. Just that it's stronger right now than all those other teams, 11 weeks into the season.

No, this isn't allowed, Iowa fans can't see who is on the schedule in the future, everything must be "Up until now". No speculating about who Iowa will be playing in 2 weeks please, no one knows and certainly no one can predict how that could affect future SOS.

That's my point. Someone pointing out that TCU almost lost to Kansas doesn't mean TCU sucks. They still won the games. But an Iowa fan using that example in defense of their results is laughable and dumb.

Close wins count the same as blowouts.

Go back and read the post I responded to with this example. This is the exact reason I brought up the TCU/KU game.

The most irrelevant polls in history. Why do they even exist? No one cares. Tomorrow night's poll is the shizzle.

Yeah, when the topic of conversation is how Iowa hasn't earned its ranking or somehow doesn't deserve to be where it's currently ranked, you kinda have to talk about "up until now". But congrats on all those tough upcoming schedules for the good Big 12 teams, clearly means a lot to you.

Bottom line is those teams have tough teams remaining on their schedule and Iowa does not.

BTW, I do not consider a Wisconsin team that has not beaten a team with a winning record this year to be a Top 25 team.

Just like these intermediate polls mean a lot to Iowa fans. Everyone knows that Iowa is likely in the Playoff if they win out. But a lot of fans are sure upset when people talk about their schedule and where Iowa is in the rankings...

So a "reward" game, as that is what title games are, may be your only saving grace to an otherwise soft schedule. The actual road taken in route to the "reward" game is weak. Playing hop scotch through your schedule should not result in a premier game, but it will. Congrats for navigating a soft schedule and being rewarded for your valiant efforts. Most years it is Wisconsin who benefits greatly from playing simpleminded offensive coordinators, with little to no playmakes at their disposal , and a 3.5 yard per play mentality. This year it is Iowa. Reocuring theme in B1G, soft teams play soft teams play soft teams. Rewarded in the end.

Great comeback. We are in a discussion that should be reserved for GREAT teams. Iowa is certainly a top 15 team (they could beat teams ahead of them and they could lose to teams behind you), but to play this schedule and claim greatness or deservingness is premature. If you beat OSU in title game then Iowa is certainly in and deservingly so.
The B1G has for years had a couple good teams and a majority of average to straight up bad teams. I can't stand behind mediocrity claiming greatness.
Besides, you are on CF arguing your point. Tell me YOU aren't letting it get to you. At least I'm not on a deserted Iowa board trying to prove a point. I know where my place is.

Show me where I said Iowa was a GREAT team? Or where I claimed "GREATNESS"? What I said is that right now Iowa is 10-0 and has earned that record against a SOS that's tougher than a lot of teams ranked higher and lower, including Baylor, TCU, and Okie St. But for some reason many of you either can't comprehend that simple fact, or are so bat **** crazy with hok hate that you have to change the topic to what games are left on the schedule in the coming weeks.

Most of the nation is bat **** crazy with hok hate. Its a cyclone thing though. How is talking current SOS any more important than cumulative SOS?
Pointing out that today's argument will hold less value as time goes on is fact.
I hope you frequent this site this much come basketball season. That is the good thing about Hawk fans, though. They only rear their heads in the fall, the rest of the year not so much.

Current SOS is relevant because the playoff committee can only rank teams based on what they have done so far, not on potential future outcomes. So when we were hearing garbage from analysts about how Iowa's schedule is bad, when we have road wins vs multiple top 25 teams, its perplexing. Baylor has still not beaten anyone decent, and no one was criticizing their schedule back when they were highly ranked. "But their cumulative SOS is so much better!" Yeah. they FINALLY faced a decent team and lost. Sweet SOS though guys.

Or in other words - no one cares how tough your future schedule is if you go on to lose against that tough schedule.

Also, we follow basketball too. I heard UAB is really good this year.

Go back and read the post I responded to with this example. This is the exact reason I brought up the TCU/KU game.

Actually, if you go back a reread the thread, this whole argument was started by one of your brethren talking down TCU. The first mention of anyone winning close games as being a negative was Gonzo with this... "I'm talking about the TCU team that barely won by 6 against the worst team in the history of college football." But thanks for chiming in.

I said I think TCU is overrated, and I do. I was pressed on it and used a blowout loss and a 6 point win over a horrible KU team in consecutive weeks as my reasons.
