What we're missing is the big picture. All the teams you're discussing have WON MANY games this year and that alone is pretty respectable.
Minnesota. 1-5 in the Big 10 (only win over 1-5 Purdue)
Kansas. Winless in the Big 12.

On another note, while I was combing the depths of Power 5 Sagarin rankings, I see Kansas is the worst by a long shot, with Oregon State coming in next, but they are closely followed by Purdue. A mighty November conference matchup for the nation's #5 team.

Maybe? But we'll never find out will we? What we do know is that Minnesota is 1-5 (the only win over the Kansas of the conference) in the Big 10, and Kansas is winless in the Big 12. So saying they're similar terrible teams is not a stretch.

Agreed, Kansas might be the worst P5 team in history. They would undoubtedly be an underdog against anyone. Even Minnesota or Purdue.
Just now realized Alabama got four first-place votes. That seems a little excessive considering their loss to Ole Miss and what they've actually accomplished so far.

You are right, they didn't. They almost lost to Iowa State, Pitt, Indiana, Illinois, and Minnesota.
