I think this is the best way for this to end.

Get a head start due to all of the openings. Give the guy a dignified exit to see off his players in a final game instead of an empty office/leaving a coach on the tarmac/a Chizik no-eye-contact meeting.

Have a final press conference to praise the good (Nebr, ranked TCU win, Ok St 11) effort, lament the bad luck (Texa$ fumble), and acknowledge the shortcomings (losing too many winnable games like vs Toledo and OkSt, all the KState losses).

If nothing else it probably helps with the new coach..."Yes it is a tough place to win but they give you a fair chance, have fair expectations (bowl game or better) and don't burn all the bridges."

Gotta feel for Mike Warren, probably thinks it's his fault that CPR gone, which we all know its not his fault.

Actually I think the good man doesn't get any courtesy or respect because of the 8-27 record since 2013.

You can't respect or be courteous to him because of his record? The guy poured everything he had into the program. He may not have been the right guy for the job but you can still respect him.

You don't think a good man deserves courtesy and respect because he failed at his job for 3 years? It's really really too bad the world is made up of people that think like this.

I don't care how much money the guy made, I can't help but feel bad for CPR. His passion for ISU and the fact that he was a local guy made it hard not to root like hell for him to succeed.

Really thought we had something special with him after his first 4 years, but when we lost some talent and things started going downhill after that he didn't act quickly enough to right the ship. Regardless, I think you have to look at the CPR era as an overall success, but the ending sure wasn't pretty.

So the emo is still here spilling their diarrhea all over CF.

And no - 8-27 does not incite courtesy and respect.

People are people, and keep in mind 8-27 is a record. He didn't kill, abuse, mistreat, or doing anything egregious. Sport does provide great entertainment and value to our lives, but in the grand scheme they are quite futile.

Winners like Hoiberg deserve courtesy and respect.
So Cam Newton, Jameis Winston, Johnny Manziel, John Calipari, and the 2015 Hawkeyes? All winners.

Rhoads may not have won at ISU, but the man has my respect.

Best of luck to Paul, but let's not act like this is a tragedy. Its time to move forward and find a better coach.

He had a couple nice tweets. I'm sure that Rhoads told him that this wasn't his fault at all. But I'm sure that because Warren likes and respects Rhoads, he feels bad that he didn't hang on to the god damn ball.

I doubt many people will look at as an overall success.

Here nor there
We are, by far, the least appealing Power 5 job open.
Subjective, but so what? There are dozens, if not hundreds, of better coaches out there than Rhoads, almost all of which will jump at the $ and opportunity to coach a P5. The big issue has always been do we have an AD that can recognize those coaches. This situation does not appreciably change with a few more P5 openings than normal.

We've seen this act before. They honestly don't realize how they look.

Best part out of all of this is Shaggy. They're melting down because they got shut out by a team who fired their HC in the same season.

http://www.shaggytexas.com/board/showthread.php/165600-Paul-Rhoads-fired

I didn't think of this until I read that thread, but will Rhoads have a chance at landing another HC job given how many of them are open? At least Hawaii and North Texas could be within his reach. I guess I just assumed he would go be a DC somewhere.

Sure he deserves respect. But no more respect than any other human being deserves.

Like who? I'd like to see all these coaches that are jumping up today thanking God that the Iowa State job is finally open.

Coaching searches aren't like they were when we hired Johnny Orr. Coaches are much more likely to stay put at a lower level school because they can make similar money there. We aren't going to be offering life changing money to anyone.

We'll get the equivalent of what Kansas got last year.

I think CPR will land a head coaching job elsewhere soon (next season or year after) , just my gut feeling.
