If we hire another DC as head coach, Pollard should be fired. OC or HC with offensive background or bust.

Our AD is fairly well regarded, our facilities and commitment to the program are also good. But I think our history of being unable to sustain success and difficulties recruiting 1000 miles from our best base of potential make ISU one of the last jobs to get filled this cycle--we will be a fall back for many more preferable places, and some guys might just stay put, rather than move in order to keep their stock high. To change that, Leath and JP would need to overpay in order to make a huge splash and neither seem like that kind of guy.

I feel for Paul and I really wanted him to succeed here. Having said that, there's no probably about it. He has to go.

No need to feel too bad. Not sure how the buyout works, but he will either cash an extremely large check or more than likely continue to get paid for long time.

People...........Iowa State has always been a tough job. Do you think it was a good power conference job when Bruce, Majors, or even McCarney took over? Plus, the conference has always been tough. The Big Eight was one of the toughest conferences in the country. In fact, in 1971 Oklahoma, Nebraska and Colorado finished as the top 3 ranked teams in the country, and Oklahoma and Nebraska always seemed to be in the top 10. ISU had to play all of them.

There are young, energetic coaches who are hungry to be a head coach, and who are probably cocky enough that they believe they can turn the ISU program around. They just want an opportunity. It's up to JP and whoever helps him to find one of those coaches.

Ideal situation? No, of course not, but it is what it is, and it has never been an attractive coaching position for most coaches, and probably never will be.

Just stop attacking each other over such foolishness. It's stupid.

All that being said, I hope JP contacts Doug Meacham, the co-offensive coordinator from TCU, and I can only hope that he might be interested. Experience in the Big 12 at both TCU and Okie State.

never feel sorry for a millionaire that loses his job

I don't give a **** what the salary is. Paul is a good man who lost his job. I'm sure he's going through a range of emotions today.

But I guess a good man doesn't get courtesy or respect because he pulled down a good paycheck

Saturday's 4th quarter was exactly what has to happen to go from probably saved your job to probably fired.

I told my wife after the K-State debacle that Rhoads mite finally get fired after the season.....It doesn't surprise me that Jamie fired Rhoads, just that JP didn't wait until after the WVA game.

Actually I think the good man doesn't get any courtesy or respect because of the 8-27 record since 2013.

Actually, I think that he does deserve our courtesy and respect.

Oh, I mostly agree. I don't disagree with the decision to fire him.

I just think that finding someone who will do a lot better than him wont' be easy. Our history tells us that.
Our history tells us very little, given the small sample size, and even smaller relevant sample. Even more, a lot better would be nice, but simply a competent HC would make a big tangible difference. Very, very few are asking or expecting "a lot" better. Just the end of turning 6-6 or 7-5 teams into 2-10 and 3-9.
