People...........Iowa State has always been a tough job. Do you think it was a good power conference job when Bruce, Majors, or even McCarney took over? Plus, the conference has always been tough. The Big Eight was one of the toughest conferences in the country. In fact, in 1971 Oklahoma, Nebraska and Colorado finished as the top 3 ranked teams in the country, and Oklahoma and Nebraska always seemed to be in the top 10. ISU had to play all of them.
There are young, energetic coaches who are hungry to be a head coach, and who are probably cocky enough that they believe they can turn the ISU program around. They just want an opportunity. It's up to JP and whoever helps him to find one of those coaches.
Ideal situation? No, of course not, but it is what it is, and it has never been an attractive coaching position for most coaches, and probably never will be.
Just stop attacking each other over such foolishness. It's stupid.
All that being said, I hope JP contacts Doug Meacham, the co-offensive coordinator from TCU, and I can only hope that he might be interested. Experience in the Big 12 at both TCU and Okie State.
