CW is sharing some knowledge on Twitter:

"General feeling I’m getting from working phone is that Rhoads keeps job if win yesterday[.] Feeling [is] that staff let team down 2 weeks in row"

"Also sounds like it was pretty unanimous from boosters to AD to president to dismiss Rhoads after yesterday."

I think CPR will land a head coaching job elsewhere soon (next season or year after) , just my gut feeling.

And he'll probably lead them to a conference championship, knowing how things work for Iowa St

Like who? I'd like to see all these coaches that are jumping up today thanking God that the Iowa State job is finally open.

Coaching searches aren't like they were when we hired Johnny Orr. Coaches are much more likely to stay put at a lower level school because they can make similar money there. We aren't going to be offering life changing money to anyone.

We'll get the equivalent of what Kansas got last year.

We have the capacity to do much better than KU has, our AD is respected and is committed to the program, neither of which is true at KU.

I could not be more confident that you are wrong about this. The Kansas job was well behind literally every other Power 5 job last year.

The thing about Rhoads is if he would have had success at Iowa State, as he wanted, he would have never left. Yes he loved this school. Whoever we hire may win but then does he stay?

Hope he does. Doesn't mean he was ever gonna do that here. He got plenty of time. I wish him well, I do think he gave us his best, it just wasn't enough here.

Coaches get paid to love their schools, doofus. He didn't succeed so your point is doubly moot.

jsb is going to jsb.

There are dozens of P5 position coaches that would become better HC's than Rhoads, and that is assuming we end up with a similar profile. Again, the key is having the people making the hiring know what to look for. That is the big issue, not ISU or some shortage of good coaches that would come to ISU. Many of the top and/or elite jobs have "failed" in the recent past when hiring the latest and greatest, most desirable candidate.

jsb is wrong about most things...Our best hope is Leath recognizes the importance of the football hire and the need for JP to get MAJOR help from those with football acumen.

Look at Iowa. Do you think the Hawkeyes would be undefeated with our schedule?... heck would they even be in the Top 25? They are on top of the world with lots of money and we are firing our coach for $4.6 Million. Are we really that unlucky or ill-equipped to compete? Crappy days are upon us and getting a new coach may be a start but will it be an ends.

Hines is saying during Rhoads's tenure, and even despite his poor record, our stadium addition, upgraded practice field and support were strong. Is 50K+ a game not an indication? Those are good fans not the fair weather type. How is that possible if the CPR era was a total loss?
