Give me a young, high-energy guy who can recruit. I don't care if he is a mid-major head coach, coordinator, or whatever. I want someone who has a plan on how he would turn this around and the charm, charisma, and personality to connect with recruits. I don't want old-school approach. I want new-school.

well that is the list of great coaches that you all said we were going to get! I'm sorry to have been so wrong....we won't have to hire a position coach when the fired Nebraska coach is on the list!
!

You're just the worst. The amount of terrible you bring to the board is truly monumental.

This is a huge mistake in my opinion. I didn't like it when Leath stuck his nose in the basketball job (even though I agreed with the decision) and I don't want him sticking his nose in this job.

Leath=Brandsted=Rasister=Trouble.

Because Mike Leach is a name and people don't know any better. You kind of answered your own question.
Washington St is getting it done in the Pac 12 recruiting against USC, Oregon, UCLA and others.

I'm well aware of what Washington St is doing. Mike Leach isn't a realistic candidate for a number of reasons.

Agree totally. The AD's biggest job - on any campus - is choosing the head football coach. No "search committees" please. It's Pollard's job. If he can't make a good choice, then his job is on the line.
So JP is good at raising $$ - then have him work for the ISU Foundation...

I mentioned it in the Leath thread, but I'd like to see Navy's Niumatalolo. I think we need to run something different than everyone else in the conference. I would like to see what an option could do in a conference that's used to playing against fast paced passing attacks.

And I'd ask him to give me the names of coaches who would agree to come here as part of his staff. We HAVE to get a top-shelf coaching staff here.

I would like to see an offensive minded coach. We're not going to Baylor, but in our league we need to figure out how to put up points

Amen. Never understood not going under center in short yardage or goal line situations in a Power I with a fullback...Hell look at Baylor's 420lb short yardage full back.

Just look at the last two games. What one factor has contributed to not finishing the drives that could have won the games? Not making 3rd or 4th and 1. ISU was pretty shut down yesterday in the second half, but twice they were inside to KSU 40 and couldn't manage to convert on short yardage out of the shotgun. Really, for the life of me I must be too stupid to understand something. I know there was one play in a recent game where they scored a TD by going under center and giving the ball to Thomas on a dive play, so it isn't like they don't have the play.

My choice, could coach Lanning and help us be more of a running team than a run and shoot team.
Has had prior experience as a head coach, but has been successful at K-State, if they don't promote him to head coach when Bill Snyder resigns.

Dana Dimel
(born October 9, 1962) is an American football coach and former player. He is currently the co-offensive coordinator and running backs coach at Kansas State University, a position he has held since the 2009 season. He is one of the most respected play-callers in all of college football. Dimel previously coached at the University of Arizona and served as the head football coach at the University of Wyoming from 1997 to 1999 and at the University of Houston from 2000 to 2002, compiling career college football record of 30–39.
Coaching career
Dimel served an integral role in leading Kansas State to a 21–5 record from 2011 to 2012. The Wildcats finished in the Top 15 each season and quarterback Collin Klein was a finalist for the Heisman Trophy. In 2012, Kansas State was crowned champions of the Big 12 and earned a trip to the Fiesta Bowl. During his first stint as part of the Kansas State coaching staff, Dimel was instrumental in four consecutive Top 20 final rankings. As the offensive coordinator in 1995 and 1996, the Wildcats won 19 games and finished #6 and #17 in the coaches' poll is respective years.

From 1997 to 1999, he coached at the University of Wyoming, and compiled a 22–13 record. At the time he became head coach, he was the youngest head coach in Division I-A. Based on the strength of that coaching job, he became the head coach at the University of Houston. From 2000 to 2002, the team compiled an 8–26 record. Dimel, however, inherited a difficult situation and recruited many of the players that fueled UH's resurgence under Art Briles.
In 2004, Dimel was a graduate assistant at Kansas State, his alma mater. He had previously been an assistant there from 1987 to 1996. In 2006, Dimel became the tight ends coach at the University of Arizona. In October 2006, he took over as running game coordinator for the team as well. After his promotion, the Wildcats beat three top 25

We don't need to go full on Triple Option gimmick offense, we just need something different than what the rest of the league is doing or the willingness to be flexible based on opponents. Lanning gives us some good options for diversity in the offense.

I get around
You're mistaken if you think Pollard is going to be making the decision on head football coach. He will have a say, but this is already above his head.

Ok, so change the name in my post from Jamie to Leath or even Branstad. My point was that I'm guessing that the coach has already been selected and thus the timing on the firing.
