FWIW, I have some doubts that the triple option will work against defenses already geared to defend space and speed.

There's a power part of running the triple option though and hitting teams hard between the tackles can still challenge smaller, faster defenses. There is also a ball control mentality with that offense that would keep Baylor and Oklahoma offense on the sideline. It could be just the type of scheme that could have ISU competitive in every single game. Big 12 defenses would have little experience against an attack like that. Niumatalolo and Willie Fritz(Georgia Southern) would both run that offense FWIW.

You are either really young or just don't know your history. Walden attempted this offense with professional talent in the back field ad it failed miserably.

No folks....Nebraska left that offense for a reason. You can't beat the speed and size of the dlinemen in the big 12 with that offense. This isn't the bottom of the acc.

No more talented?

OL? Nope. Note even close
RB? Nope.
WR? probably overall but Iowa is still solid. Tevaun Smith is = to ISU's "best"
TE? Not even close.
QB? "Maybe at QB"? What are you smoking? Maybe?

Wow.

You might be the dumbest poster on here and that's saying something

Is anyone else tired of the "Iowa State ties" candidates already? It happens every time there is a coaching search.

Fact is Loney, Alford, Sage, and several others have no resume for a Power 5 job. They only get mentioned because of a previous stint with Iowa State.

We've sucked for 100 years. We don't have to have someone with ties to Iowa State IMO.

Steve Lonely has a better resume than any coach you are going to get by far. You are clueless as usual.

Unfortunately his window probably passed as a head coach at isu.

24/382/2TD
45/593/3TD

One is Tevaun Smith this season and one is Lazard's freshman year. But let's hear the hok fans wanting to apply some context to this. they should have plenty of it saved up from not applying any of it to their 11-0 record.

He hasn't been involved in college football for 14 years (2001 outside of an interim coach for Drake). How is that being "clueless"? Because I want someone who has been around college football in the last decade?

This thread is to discuss coaching candidates for Iowa State. If you want to discuss Iowa football, there are plenty of threads in the Rivals Forum.

It's a nice title. But if you aren't an OC or a DC you are a position coach.

According to the knobs on here, Tom Herman was a figurehead too. It's funny how he kept winning and OSU's offense went to pot when he left.

You're more talented at RB? LOL. You are such a typical Hawk fan. 11-0 and we're at CF #talkinbouttheclones.

He was at least labeled the OC.

If you want to argue that Tony Alford is really the OC, then I guess that's your right. His job title is running backs coach.

Here's the thing: A good head coach doesn't have to be a good coordinator. They have to have the ability to hire those coordinators and position coaches and they need to have a good understanding of game management.

Also, they don't have to be from Iowa. We can take outsiders here.

For the record, I do believe that we will hire several position coaches.
