The AD or Campbell definitely Kelly'd this one away. At least that's the feeling I'm getting.

Campbell's eyes must have been full of $$$$$ as he walked out that door. What would be even better is if we were the ones who leaked.

Bumping this as it continues to be what I hear. Things haven't been, and are not, as close to being done as many have reported. There have been additional interviews today and there are possibly two more in the works.

Perhaps Campbell is the guy, perhaps he's not. But if Pollard is getting his panties in a bunch about information getting out on the internet, then he needs to realize this is the digital age and it gets harder every passing year keeping information quiet. For all we know it wasn't even Campbell or the Toledo AD that said anything - just the fact that people saw online that he flew to Detroit and other people saw that he met with Campbell.

JP sure loves his Cone of Silence. It's to the point where I kind of wonder what the true reason is. To punt on a guy last time around and possibly do it again? Geesh

Info doesn't get out if you block everyone on Twitter. Or something like that.

Agree, and a guy like Campbell is going to need it.

Imo unless we have the funds to buy a home-run type hire (elite money), the best thing is to get a seasoned HC from a lower level (ideally one that is a subject matter expert in their offense and that has proven to do more with less) and spend more on assistants. Fritz fills that the best imo.

I agree with this 100%. Especially in football it's more important to have high quality and proven assistants.

Yeah I never really bought us cancelling all the other interviews.

If JP gets the idea you are just playing him as a fallback option he will cut you loose. He's done it before. Good to hear the report that interviews had been canceled was inaccurate.

Isn't it possible that JP wanted to interview more people and the information being out there has had a negative impact on those plans?

Because from a hiring standpoint, you feel like you are getting played for more cash. I personally don't have a problem with it at Campbell's level. If his camp wants to throw it out there, in hopes of pulling an offer in from another school, then so be it. It's like visiting other schools when you've committed as a recruit. Some recruits can pull that off, others can't.

If this were a Les Miles leak, I'd feel like JP probably wouldn't care as much.

I think an experienced HC who wins and is a former OC/OL coach is probably a good fit here. We are in the Big12, I'm glad we didn't hire another DC to the the HC. We live in Iowa, we need to have a good OL and running game.

I thought Rhoads was your man? What happened? Jfc.... As much as you puffed your chest before the season this is hilarious.
