Rough game for Nader. Barely played in the second half. Let's hope he shakes it off and comes back with great energy and a good attitude. He has been superb so far this season, and we're going to need him to continue playing well throughout the season if we want to make it to the Final Four.

I think it had more to do with Matt playing very well as to why he didn't play as much in the second.

Yes and no. Matt deserved to be in there, and played very well. But Nader didn't even rotate with Georges and Jameel, so it wasn't just a result of Matt's good play.

Hopefully he understands (I bet he does) that it wasn't his night and it was Matt's, look for him to bounce back.

Next man in. Nader looked lost on defense, it was pretty obvious that once Matt started guarding Uthoff he didn't score...not really a coincidence.

EDIT: Don't take that wrong - I love Nader (UNNGH!) but sometimes you just have a bad night. It happens.

I think Nader is a very talented player. He has had a really solid season. I'm glad we have him. That being said, I'm still not sure I trust him down the stretch to take the right shot or to get the ball in the right guy's hands when we need a hoop.

Nader got lost on defense a couple of times but I think MT's big night was the reason he sat.

I was a little surprised that he didn't rotate in to give Georges or McKay a breather to get them ready for the final push, but I suppose when it is all hands on deck mode we couldn't afford to take either out (I think Nader was in for 1 offensive possession for McKay late).

Regressing to the mean after last year's Cy-Hawk performance. Prohm even said that for whatever reason Nader just didn't have it last night. That's going to happen. But the great thing about this team is that others will step up and fill in for him.

He's a huge part of this team and will bounce back, no question.

Nader has been great all season prior to this and particularly in the second half. Maybe he would have had a really good 2nd half last night, but he was forced to sit because Thomas was the hot hand on both ends. I'm confident he'll bounce back because I think his head is on right and he's focused this year.

As for Matt, he had a huge game and had to be out there. Without him, we don't pull off that comeback.

Much -- much -- more worried about Naz's shooting (hips?) than I am about Nader.
These 'offer' nights shooting are gonna kill us in Feb. and March, if they occur, b/c teams are gonna realize we're limited as a three-point-shooting team, esp. if Thomas has an off-night as well.

Nader has enormous skills in some sub-sets of the game of b.b., esp. his physique/strength, and length, but he strikes me as a guy who started playing basketball "later" than some. What we often call basketball "instincts" are often just the so-called 10,000 hours in the gym when you're a kid. And I think this is why Nader's "instincts" or mental game often seem slow.
The good news is that I think there will be games where other teams forget about him while they worry about McCay or George, and then he's capable of killing them with drives to the basket against defenders he can overpower.
We're not a deep team, as everybody knows. We absolutely need this guy.

Absolutely. They would have both been in the game at the same time if Nader was having a good night. Hope to see him bounce back in a big way. Am I wrong in thinking that Nader could or should be capable of good defense, but it seems he's really struggling with that. Offensively, I wish we would post him up more - his 3pt. percentage isn't a strength (is it?) and he tends to go too fast and out of control at the basket (sometimes) and picks up unfortunate charging fouls or turnovers. Certainly have been happy with him, don't want him to lose his aggressiveness,(he practically willed us to the win in that Kansas game in KC, but also want him to stay out of foul trouble and be a factor for us.

Depth is going to be an issue if Burton isn't immediate impact. OU and KU are very deep.

He got yanked right after Jok hit a three on a full court inbounds pass. He was jogging back lazily and Jok nailed it.

Nader had no energy and was content on chucking 3's. Add to that, Matt doing a solid job guarding Uthoff, and that's why he didn't play.

Nader's 3's were all wide open shots. He's shooting 32% which isn't great, but it's higher than Monte or Naz through 8 games this season. I didn't have a problem with his shot selection yesterday. His problem was he wasn't getting it done defensively.

McKay and Thomas were both playing well, and Niang is our best player so it made sense that Nader sat last night.
