I don't want to think about a time when there will be no Georges, Naz, and McKay.:cry:

Here's one that has been updated recently.
http://www.draftexpress.com/nba-mock-draft/2016/

#41, 5th PG off the board, just ahead of Tyler Ulis, just behind Marcus Paige.

I'm surprised to see Demetrius Jackson at #12 and the second PG. I have no doubt Trimble will be a better pro.

If he's projected as a second rounder, I think he'll come back. The upside of coming back is that he'll have a chance to up his scoring into the 18+ range as the #1 option (along with Malou) next year.

Brady Ernst and Simeon Carter are only getting garbage time minutes against our lesser opponents like Chicago St. & Buffalo. Unless they rapidly progress this offseason, I don't see them being viable Big XII players for next year. Getting a low post graduate transfer should be priority #1 in recruiting for next year.

I think that had less to do with their ability and more to do with developing chemistry with the main rotation especially Matt Thomas and Hallice Cooke.

Carter needs to bulk up but the quickness and athleticism are there. Too early to say with him for the long run.

Unfortunately that also makes him not an ideal candidate to step in if he has to in B12 play. Agree with your last sentence, just think it's more of a wise insurance thing than a guarantee.

I'm not that worried about those two yet. They just don't fit in with the current 7 player rotation. I mean, they just don't. Carter could play in an emergency situation and be fine. He's big and athletic. I'm sure he would look a little lost at first though.

Honestly, they could probably be contributing to a lot of power five teams this year (even though Ernst is injured).

People might be pleasantly surprised with them next year. Don't think they will be major contributors until they are juniors however.

Malou will help, and I'm sure Prohm will get a transfer big. Plus Burton. I think we'll be fine. Should be headed to six straight NCAA Tournaments.

I'd be surprised if Monte came back next year, and that's fine. I agree that if we add an immediately eligible seasoned post (grad transfer or juco) this team starts to look better than most probably thought.

The goal next year will be to make the tournament; anything beyond that would be gravy in my mind. But Jackson, Thomas, Burton, Malou, and [insert post here] with Cooke off the bench, at the least, is not bad.

Nick Babb. A lot of people are forgetting about him. 6'5 wing that can hit the three, and create his own shot.

We'll easily have a top 3 backcourt in the nation if MM returns, pretty solid even if he doesn't.

Inside is where all the questions lie. If Burton comes in and plays like a 4 at times that will answer a little bit. If Burton is an athletic freak slashing to the rim but doesn't look like he wants to mix it up on the inside on D/rebounding we have major concerns.

Malou has all sorts of skills but we won't know if he can score and defend inside at this level until he suits up. I don't think there's a question that Malou is an instant matchup nightmare on the wings for just about anybody.

I think Babb and Long will battle for the last guard rotation spot off the bench. Should be a good battle as I think both can play at this level next year.

Having someone like Malou who can play the '3' on offense and defend the '5' on defense (if he can) is a perfect fit for the Hoiberg/Prohm scheme. The biggest question with Malou is whether he can defend the post in the BigXII, because with our roster next year, he'll have to.

That would indicate that leaving would be a bad, bad idea.
It usually is, anyway, unless you have a guaranteed selection on the way. Most guys should avoid declaring early because there are only so many spots available. If you're not a top 20-30 projection, you need to stay.

That team didn't have a PG like Monte though. He makes everyone better.

Next years team doesn't have a C like McKay, Nader or a point forward like Niang though. They all make everyone better.

It will have a different look and early expectations will have to be lower. We heard many of the same criticisms when Royce left. That's what's most exciting about next year, it will be an entirely different personality with new stars whether Monte stays or leaves.

Jackson and Malou are the keys to next years team. They need to play up to their hype and be 12-15ppg scorers. Throw in Thomas, Burton and Cook that is a good group to build from. I can see CSP going after a graduate post transfer, but that is hit or miss on a guy being available who is a good fit and shows interest. IMO the staff will focus on a JUCO center in conjunction with seeing if a tranfer becomes available.

IMO Carter and Ernst will be serviceable post players next year. Maybe not good enough to be starters, but guys who can give 10-15 mpg. The wildcard is Babb, he provides versatility at the SG/SF position. Any contribututions by Long, Lard and Young will be a bonus.

yep, we really need a ready to go post next year. we need one in the worst way. I feel if we can get one, that is the piece we need to get back to the tournament.

That's the way I see it. If Monte leaves and we don't find a grad transfer post, I would take the under on a tourney appearance.

Jackson and Malou would both have to be 14+ ppg guys IMO for us to get in without Monte or a starting post that can carry a scoring load.

Definitely need a grad transfer post. People are understating how valuable Niang and Mckay are compared to our options for next year.
