You love being so negative. Next year's team definitely will be a tourney team. I doubt top five like now, but definitely a tourney team.

OK.

I will say that IF Naz is granted a redshirt and IF Naz is physically able to play and IF Naz decides to stay at Iowa State, next year's team would have a much better chance to go to the NCAA tournament.

I just think losing 3 elite players and another starter is a tough, tough thing.

I don't think it is bad if next year's team doesn't make the NCAA tournament. I won't be disappointed. It would be an amazing coaching job if they did.

Am I the only one thinking, dang Naz looked great so far this year minus the Iowa game, better than ever in fact, especially when driving/slashing/dunking which are things you would think bad hips would make worse. He must be a tough SOB if he was playing through a ton of pain and just finally decided he had enough. Wish him the best and hope he and Monte play together next year so we don't have as big of drop off. There wasn't a particular play when anyone noticed he hurt one of his hips against Iowa was there?

According to the stats he was shooting worse, but had similar stats in the other categories. I personally thought he was doing fine until the Iowa game, and he was a better driver than we've seen in year's past. I kind of find it strange how much he was playing with hip problems though.

Based on the fact, that all 5 of our starters will be gone if Naz doesn't come back. That's a lot for any team to overcome. See Wisconsin and Ohio State---programs that have more history than we do, but suck **** this year.

If Monte leaves, it'll be a team that flirts with being ranked and may not ever be in the top 25, but it'll still be a tourney team. We might sweat it on the bubble, but I don't see that team missing the tourney. I'll make a similar bet with you about that one too.

Let me guess. Now you're thinking that if all 5 starters are leaving, no reason for Prohm to stay. He's leaving too.

Nope....he'll stay :)

Honestly, I didn't think I'd get killed for saying that next year's team likely won't be an NCAA tournament team. Hell, before the news got out today, there were several people who were saying that unless things drastically change, this year's team will be a middle of the pack Big 12 team. And I disagreed with them.

Ya think? Nobody here has thought of that before. Thanks for the insight.

Re: Long Out Rest of Season

Yes, we are Iowa State, no doubt about it. 2 years ago, Niang breaks his foot, last year Fred rumors hurt us and BDJ not being a team player, and this year Naz's hips can't hold up.

This puts us at best #3 in the Big 12 behind KU and OU now, and possibly further back. I don't see how we finish higher than KU or OU though.

We desperately need some outside shooting IMO, and this won't help that for sure. I don't think Burton will give us much in that area either, although I guess he hit them pretty well in the Cap City League this summer.

This team just has too many weak spots IMO. Sure, we'll make the tourney, and could win a game or maybe 2 if we're lucky, but it's not going to be that "special" season that we were hoping for I'm afraid.

And Jeff Goodman is a total hack too IMO. That is completely irresponsible on his part to suggest Naz might transfer to play somewhere else next year with absolutely no info to back that up. It's not the media's job to start rumors. Geeez. What a tool.

Yeah, he was a more complete player this year so far. Chance to be an elite 2 when healthy, in my opinion.

JFC calm down. Did you see my response to Ted? I misunderstood the rules thinking he could transfer if they wouldn't give him the Medshirt. Meaning; If he wanted to play MBB he would HAVE TO do it somewhere else. I was wrong and Ted set me straight.

I thought those were pretty calm questions.

Really? A team that right now many people on this board don't think should be ranked in the top 15? Who exactly will be the ones that make next year's team a borderline ranked team?

I'm officially agreeing with a jsb post.
