Re: Long Out Rest of Season

Yes, we are Iowa State, no doubt about it. 2 years ago, Niang breaks his foot, last year Fred rumors hurt us and BDJ not being a team player, and this year Naz's hips can't hold up.

This puts us at best #3 in the Big 12 behind KU and OU now, and possibly further back. I don't see how we finish higher than KU or OU though.

We desperately need some outside shooting IMO, and this won't help that for sure. I don't think Burton will give us much in that area either, although I guess he hit them pretty well in the Cap City League this summer.

This team just has too many weak spots IMO. Sure, we'll make the tourney, and could win a game or maybe 2 if we're lucky, but it's not going to be that "special" season that we were hoping for I'm afraid.

And Jeff Goodman is a total hack too IMO. That is completely irresponsible on his part to suggest Naz might transfer to play somewhere else next year with absolutely no info to back that up. It's not the media's job to start rumors. Geeez. What a tool.

How exactly do we know that Jeff doesn't have any info to back that up?

JFC calm down. Did you see my response to Ted? I misunderstood the rules thinking he could transfer if they wouldn't give him the Medshirt. Meaning; If he wanted to play MBB he would HAVE TO do it somewhere else. I was wrong and Ted set me straight.
My bad, read it as if you thought ISU might no longer want him.

Way up there
One player that Naz "came in" with is still on the roster (Niang), the other seniors were transfers. You have to hate yourself if you are thinking that will impact Naz being here next year.

I just think losing 3 elite players and another starter is a tough, tough thing.

I don't think it is bad if next year's team doesn't make the NCAA tournament. I won't be disappointed. It would be an amazing coaching job if they did.
It is pretty tough. I think the quality of the JUCOs (which Wisconsin/Indiana don't focus on recruiting) coming in plus (can't believe I'm saying this) the defensive ability/hustle by Thomas and Cooke put the '17 team on the right side of the bubble, whether or not Morris and Mitrou-Long stay.

My 2 cents:

Sure hope Naz has a speedy recovery and gets to 100% healthy!

If Naz is granted another year by the Inept NCAA and Monte Morris comes back for his senior year, the team will be pretty good still. Senior guards are a key part to winning the national championship or so they say!

Really? A team that right now many people on this board don't think should be ranked in the top 15? Who exactly will be the ones that make next year's team a borderline ranked team?
A) how many Cyclone fans are saying that we aren't top 15? B) do you follow recruiting?

Not holding my breath for Naz's medical redshirt, because we are ISU after all. We will manage without him though, next man up.
