Yes we can but wouldn't you want to go 8 deep instead of 7? If we don't get a grad transfer then sign a HS recruit.

7 is fine with me. Burton was going to steal minutes from who? Let you best players play as many minutes as possible

Monte - 35
Georges - 31
Jameel - 31
Naz - 31
Nader - 26
Thomas - 26
Cooke - 15

Tell me who you would want to play less minutes if Naz was still playing.

At this point you're probably better off assuming Monte is gone (and no this doesn't need to turn into a Monte leaving or staying debate). That leaves you with Matt and Cooke as proven players and you have to assume Jackson is going to be solid for us. We have depth at guard next year but I think you're underestimating what Naz would provide from being the face of the team next year.

Think about it, who is the leader of the team next year if Naz isn't here?

Nailed it. And who says we can't go with a guard heavy lineup? Having Naz here would be huge to teach a lot of the young guys and lead the team. I can't believe anyone would complain about him coming back.

You mean 7.5 deep? Because that's all you're gunna get, naz at 50%.

You are making this sound like Naz is not hurt at all, and he's just doing this so he can play next year.

Whoever it is will be a better player than Naz will be next season. We've recruited some good leaders. Cooke and Thomas will have built some leadership this season as well. Jakolby Long has all the tools to be a good leader down the road.

I said wait for Naz to be healthy enough to play and not rush it.

I'm no doctor, and have no experience with this type of injury, but the way it sounds he just needs time to let his hips recover.

Maybe the doctors tell him no physical activity for 4 weeks, followed by 4 weeks of rehab, then he can practice. Now we're sitting at the middle of February, and the guy hasn't shot a bball for two months, so we're not talking first game action until the last few games of the regular season.

Now the team, which hopefully at this point has settled into their roles, has to make adjustments at the most important part of the season.

This is all best case scenario. Hell, maybe he needs 4 months of no activity, and 4 months of rehab.

Where I think we'll hurt most without Long isn't what we lose directly from Long. ISU's team is senior laden, and used to having a "spark" off the bench (Bows to Tyrus McThree). Matt Thomas was shaping up nicely to play that role this year. (See his 2 threes right off the bench against Iowa). With Matt starting, which I ABSOLUTELY think he's earned, we lost that bench spark. Can Hallice fill that role of 3 point assassin who comes in to provide a spark when we need it? Maybe Burton can do it with some dunks?

Correct me if I'm wrong but didn't Cooke have a double hip surgery like 8 months ago?

SIAP, and I'm not trying to start any rumors. I caught the end of the morning rush this morning and thought I heard Heather say something about Naz transfering?! Did anyone else hear the segment? I'm hoping I just wasn't able the context of it.

Naz Long will not transfer. Just repeating something Jeff Goodman pulled out of his ***.

First surgery in October 2014 and the second in November 2014.

That is a year ago.

Naz had his in April and May. Big difference.

And, if I recall correctly, the recovery time is 6 months, and I'm pretty sure that's not the play-DI-basketball-at-a-high-level recovery. That's walking around like a normal dude recovery.

And since this can't be posted enough:
