They start Hunter Mickelson. They play Traylor and Lucas big minutes. You think they're a lot more talented than the team that lost 5 games in the Big 12 last season?

Not a 'lot' more, because they were talented last year. But more contributors and experienced. Mickelson, Traylor, Lucas, Bragg, and Diallo don't have to put up big numbers. But they know how to play defense and rebound, muchless just to bring fresh guys off the bench. Seldon is having a better year, and Graham really has made a big difference on the floor this year, especially defensively. Heck they don't even need Skyv or Greene, yet they've got them and play them, neither of which you want to leave open for a '3'. Don't see them losing more than 3 games like earlier poster.

Prohm thinks 13-5 or 14-4 wins the conference FWIW
Prohm hasn't seen the Big12 refs for a season! By observation Prohm has McKay with his back to the hoop on offense and not blocking shots on defense. Neither of those things looks to be working well. I hope at the end of the season he is right about all the above, but he hasn't been convincing so far.

KU is shooting 45.7% from 3 this year, and I'm not really convinced that Selden and Ellis are 50% 3-PT and Graham is a 40% 3-PT shooter. I think they'll drop a few on the road when they don't shoot well.

Well I'm gonna go with Prohm on this one and expect them to lose at least 4. Heck they were a missed FT from already losing a home game and they had a losing road conference record last year.

KU's losses the last 3 years in the Big 12:

2014-15: 5
2013-14: 4
2012-13: 4

Plus I'm not sold on them right now, still think OU is the best team in the conference. KU has a glaring hole at their post position opposite of Perry

They are a better team this year than previous few. And they don't need a dominate center.

Why? They start two small guards and have a huge hole in their big next to Ellis. Selden has been terrific this year no doubt but his shooting % will come down.

I think two years ago KU was better with Embiid/Wiggins/Ellis and I think KU is basically the same team that lost 5 conference games last year

Gotta win by about 5 points against KU at home and by about 10-15 on the road to actually beat KU. That's the recipe for a WWE style conference title streak.

Their small guards are playing great on both sides of the ball. Selden is a totally different player this year. Ellis is great again. Their bench is better and they have so many bigs they can go with whatever guys is playing well. They don't need a star at center.

Their defense is better than it has been the past few years and the Embiid team was too inexperienced and Embiid injured for part of the conference season.

They are top ten in offensive and defensive efficiency. That is really good.

You're right, that's a really good team that's going to lose at least 4 games in Big 12 play

We will see. Big 12 also isn't that good this year. The top three are really good but WVU is overrated. And Baylor isn't as good as they were last year. Texas is down, KState is down, TCU and OSU are bad. Tech is solid but not a tournament team. The only potential losses for KU are Baylor who they just destroyed, WVU, ISU and OU. I don't see them losing to Baylor. So that's three losses.
Same of for ISU and OU I believe too I think they will only drop about 3-5 games each. I don't see ISU dropping a game to a bad team this year. Especially if they can continue to improve their defense.

Obviously no way to know yet, but I think your opinion on West Virginia will change. Remember, they almost beat KU twice and led til the end at AFH last year, without injured Staten playing (and another senior). Their system is just tough. Already have a road win at KState who is going to beat several teams at home this year, imo.

I hope not. But i have a feeling we drop one we shouldn't just like tech last year
