Congratulations Troy. Well deserved. Love wrestler/football players.......the inverse of what is celebrated today in Good Morning America World.....but I still salute you.
I wonder what Troy thinks of the movie "KonKussion'" (said with awful imitated Afrikaner accent.)

a shame you youngsters weren't old enough to see Troy play--or even Darren Davis

Every team knew what was coming, and they couldn't stop Troy Davis. He was a great college player. amazingly tough

Awesome!! Well deserved.

The Mizzou game was when I took my official visit to ISU. Was a fun day to be around the program. Can't remember if it was that game or one of my un officials when I met Troy's mom. Nice lady, IIRC it was her first or one of the first times she had ever been out of Florida.

Tim Kohn and Pat Augafa were flat studs during that era on the OL and very good guys as well.

Wish I could find the girl in Lincoln, NE now that was telling me that Ahman Green was better than Troy. He was such a great back.

Yeah, you are right. I made a mistake. Barry's number was called in 15 years. I had the wrong date of Marcus Allen's induction as well - but the number of years was right.
Troy was a better back in college than Barry Sanders? ROTFLMAO
You never saw Barry run in college did you?

98% of non cyclone fans would agree with her.

He was in the NFL, Ahman Green over Troy Davis. Green is the Packers all-time leading rusher with 8322 yards & a 4.5 ypc plus 54 TDs to Troy's 446 yards & 1 TD.

Tom Osborne said he was the best RB he ever had to coach against. That's saying something right there. I remember the Mizzou game when they put 8,9 and 10 guys in the box to stop him and he still went for over 300 against them.

The Heisman loss shows the bias for good teams in the East vs bad teams anywhere else. If TD had played on a good ISU team he wins that year hands down.

And evidently you didn't see TD run in college either. Barry at least had a good Oline to open holes for him, TD had nothing up front, no passing game (other than him on swing passes) and still went for over 2000 yards twice. A lot of his yards came in the first halves of games too since the team was usually behind in the second half they passed more.

No one is saying Barry Sanders wasn't an incredible back, but to just toss TDs name out of that conversation is idiotic.

I was at the Mizzou game. I was in my 30s, relatively sober, and had seen probably 100 CFB games. But really didn't comprehend how incredible his performance was at the time.

I tried to find a breakdown of his rushing yards by quarter. I saw somewhere that most of his yards were in the 2nd and 3rd quarters but I can't find the quote nor the stats. I hate that Hawks dismiss his accomplishments because the team sucked. Yes, the team sucked but played in several close games that year. Secondly, because the team sucked, there was absolutely no one else a defense had to worry about.

Rep to anyone that can break down that '96 season into rushing yards by quarters.

Who cares. Teams knew he was getting the ball they freaking stacked the box with 8 9 10 players. He was basically all ISU had. How many good RBs on good teams rack up yards after the game is decided?

Congrats Troy...You are the greatest running back in ISU history, followed by Dexter Green and Dave Hoppmann, may they both RIP

I was in JTS when Troy ran over Mizzou for nearly 400 yards and the Mizzou fans were in total shock ............and denial and I heard one of them say...How did Iowa State ever get this guy....answer Arnie Romero (sic)

Most deserving Heisman winner ever that never won it because CFB is biased as hell. (Also why McCaffrey didn't win it this year.)

So glad he finally got into the HOF, but wtf took so long?

I agree re McCaffrey....Heisman equals the Best Player on the Best Team...Totally Biased

TD actually had a very good OL in front of him. To say he had nothing is a huge knock to a group that paved the way for a rushing feat we will most likely never see again. TD made a living off long runs once he got past the 8-9 in the box. That doesn't happen without your OL. You are correct there was no passing game however.

Agree. That Oline was really decent actually and had some big dudes. Passing was horrid and defense was abysmal.
