Loud, distorted electric guitar with a skittish rhythm is not going to get anyone born outside Indianola excited. It might get you pumped up to work on your car, but a bunch of 18-23 year olds that love rap don't want to run out of the tunnel headbanging. It will sound terrible over the speakers. We need something that builds and has bass.

Yeah, but we're talking about an entrance fanfare. To get the whole crowd riled up. Plenty of hip hop will be played during warmups and between breaks. There aren't very many rap tunes with an adrenaline build up.

Still don't think bad electric guitar riffs are the way to do it. Rhythm is the most important part of a pump-up song, and distorted electric guitar lends itself to headbanging and mosh pits. Volume doesn't always equate to a rise in adrenaline. And have you heard our stadium speakers? Distorted guitar would be a disaster.


Sweet Caroline is being played at ISU graduation ceremonies. It isn't going anywhere.

Rap doesn't sound great in the stadium either. Not knocking the sound system, cause its much better than what we use to have, but that is not an ideal setup for anything. I've heard plenty of music played on that system, and I don't think any one particular genre sounds all that much better than any other.
