I don't think he is a bad kid, quite the opposite actually. People mature differently and it isn't always a consistent process, there are huge setbacks and huge leaps in the maturation process. He is playing too many minutes and is hurt doing it. Hopefully this is a big leap. He is after all 21 or 22 years old, these things happen. Most people on here had the benefit of not having everything you do or say when you are that age dissected by the public a million ways. You are what you ultimately are able to overcome. Could be a blessing in disguise for everyone.

I know I will be cheering hard for him.

Fully agree with this, but I will add that a lot of this is self induced. What he has been doing is like drunk facebooking. HE seriously needs to get off social media. JM can be as emotional as he wants, but not to the world. It's not helping him. Everyone in the media and socail networkers eat that stuff up, but there are things in D1 athletics that you keep within the "familiy" of your team. I wish him well and hopes he gets square with CSP and the team, but putting weird stuff or frustration on twitter or instagram where CSP has to find out later isn't accomplishing what he is hoping for.

I hope Coach Prohm is tough on his stance and makes McKay sit at least 1 more game for that stupid "just 1 game" tweet. That's a perfect example of the sense of entitlement kind of attitude problem this team has had all season long and what we saw against OSU was finally a TEAM effort win even if it was of the ugly variety - especially in the early part of the game. I'm glad that Coach Prohm is not letting this team just do as they please and letting McKay get away with his childish attitude that is hurting the chemistry on this team. They finally have bought into playing some defense and George even joked about that after the game saying something about now that Fred is gone they have to play some defense for a change.

Hopefully Jameel comes back motivated and with a better attitude and this team starts playing it's best basketall of the season going into March. I think it will be a good thing if this team has to play as a 4 or 5 seed, it takes a little bit of the pressure and expectations off them and hopefully makes them a little hungrier to have a deep run and avoid the letdown like what happened last year.

Please don't use the term "wake-up call" when talking about the ISU MBB team. They've made it abundantly clear the past few years that there is just no such thing.

Actually there is really no such thing as a "wake up call" except at hotels. We lose to UNI and everyone says "this team needs a wake up call"...then we win a bunch of games in a row and no one says "oh this team got the wake up call" but then the very next loss it's "Oh this team didn't learn from losing to UNI two months ago."

It's really a little ***** argument and makes you look like you think this team should never lose a game which makes you look like a moron.

I expect Deonte will take the next tip like he did last game.

Anyone see McKay's instagram video with Seanna? He's lip synching a song with lyrics abut being the "bad guy", "you and me against the world", blah bah blah. This kid doesn't get it. He continues to act like a victim. He is a child.

As much as McKay probably needs to back off social media, so do some of you fans. Geez. Why are you stalking him?

If you just didn't pay attention to what he's posting, then you wouldn't get all worked up, and then hurry to post your opinion on here.

I don't see any of his rants, except what is put on here, and I only judge him off his performance on the court. That is all that matters to me, how he plays on the court.

I make a thread about this a week ago and I'm a jerk, now everyone is posting about him. The underlying issue is McKay's attitude. He acts like he's the greatest thing in the world and only decides to play when he wants to. Too many times he has quit on defense (don't blame the knee anymore when it's obvious his attitude gets in the way) and becomes a liability. Sure, he's 23 and has a ton of growing up to do, but he's capable of being one of the best big men in the country. Hopefully Prohm suspending him for a game was a big enough wake-up call for McKay to start acting like a man instead of a kid. My hope is that he plays against Texas Tech with a completely new outlook and decides to try and hustle at all times. Burton proved on Saturday that he's more than capable of stepping up and being a starter so hopefully that helps Jameel with being a better teammate as well.

For the bolded... Correct, DEFINITELY, and yep. All three of those things are independently true. Also, your thread bashed him for his struggling play performance when it was already known he was having lingering knee issues. Hence the (justifiable) reaction too it.

I have stopped trying to interpret McKay's social media contributions. He has his own set of filters. I care what Coach Prohm says about him. I'll take that as my indicator of where McKay is really at . . . not anything that McKay does or says on social media.

Stalking him? It was posted last night. I checked my instagram this morning and saw it. The point is at a time when you would think he would want to lay low, he is posting videos of himself that suggest he still believes himself to be a victim. Sometimes you can't overanalyze a kid's social media behavior. With McKay, there is a pattern. He's very transparent and it usually aligns with his actual behavior. He's very, very immature.

He can but his track record allows for people to read into it and not sound crazy.

Overanalyzing a kid's social media behavior is exactly what you are doing.

My point was that McKay has shown that his social media behavior aligns with his real-life attitude. It just isn't smart. And the fact he continues to post crap like that shows he isn't learning.

Do you know him in real life? Or just what you see of him on social and on the basketball court?

Don't follow him on social media. There is zero purpose.

He's been suspended, so it's obviously out there about his attitude. We all know that going forward it's about McKay and his coach, and McKay and his teammates. We'll find out if he gets it or not. What he posts on social media has nothing to do with his basketball life.

I'm pretty sure you're the only freaking out about this.
