I have a really great feeling about this one. I think that we match up really well and have this felling that Thomas is going to have a career night. ISU 79 - UVA 69. This is the year! Go Cyclones!!

If Matt and Monte combine for 48 points, there is no way we only score 71. Even on a cold night, when is the last time Niang scored less than 12 points? That means that Nader + Burton + Jameel + Cooke combine for 11 total points. If Matt and Monte hit those numbers, we should top 80 and win with a cushion

...and THEN we drink every last drop of alcohol in Chicago?

No team in the ACC compares to ISU. No player compares to Georges. No team on VA schedule has shooters like ISU. For these reasons and our focus gotta take the Cyclones 72-65. Keys will be ball movement, hitting our 3's & staying out of foul trouble IMO.

My family will make sure Hilton East is rocking!!

I think it's going to be a close one - five points or less. I can't pick against our guys; not now that they've come this far. ISU 74 Virginia 70.

I don't think it'll be that close. I'm leaning towards ISU running (and shooting) Virginia out of the gym but I can see a case where Virginia's style gets in ISU's heads and has them forcing bad shots.

Good points. Im just expecting Niang to get the brunt of the focus of Brogdon, and I don't see the lobs being there for McKay against that defense. I think if we win it's from running and our shooting outside basically playing, of all things, a little more Hoiball than we have lately.

Don't forget the alcohol.

If the boys can hit from 3 with any consistency, and George stays out of foul trouble, we win by 5.

Everyone seems concerned with UVA's defense, but I'm not. What I AM concerned with is UVA's offense. They seem to like to drive inside, and I'm worried about McKay and Niang getting into foul trouble.

So, if er avoid foul trouble, I think we win this one, but it will be close:

Last time I was in Orlando in March ISU made it to the Elite 8. Saturday I am flying to Orlando, good enough correlation for me to say ISU wins Friday.

Iowa State 71
Virginia 67

We've lost close games to good teams all year... sadly I think that is how it will end.

Cavs 76
Clones 70

Then again, if we were playing a team that had lost close games to good teams all year, I'd be predicting that the NCAA tournament is when that trend reverses (because poetry). What are the chances that the Cosmos chooses to portion out some positive karma for ISU?

We finally figure out how to close a game. Down 1 with 15 seconds left, Monte cuts to the basket and stops to release what appears to be a floater, but passes to a cutting Niang who lays it in with 2 seconds left. Last gasp heave for Virginia gives Cyclone Nation a heart attack as it hits the backboard, then the front of the rim, and finally bounces harmlessly away. Cyclones 78, Virginia 77.

I'm actually not too worried about the pack line. I think our offense is good enough to overcome it. Our defense on the other hand... we'll see.
