"In Bloom" is so ******* fantastic. "Call to Arms" might be my favorite Sturgill song. Such a great album. Dammit he is good. Only 2 more records to come from him according to the man himself.

On my third listen of the day. Really enjoying it. Saw him a couple months ago and it was perhaps the best show I've been to.

joe rogan had a good 2 hour or 3 hour podcast w/ him the other day, you can find it by searching joe rogan podcast on your iphone. worth a listen.

Caught that the other day and then found the 1st one they did. I think the 1st one is better, gets more in to SS music and how he became him. Although he never mentions Sunday Valley, which makes me think (plus other things I have read) that things did not end well there.

I have seen him once. He opened for Dwight Yoakam at the Surf a few years ago. Never heard of Sturgill Simpson in my life.

After his set I was back grabbing a beer when I saw the band and went up to talk to them and tell them that I really digged their sound. Ended up buying them a beer and talking with them for 10 minutes. Really cool dude. And Dwight was awesome as always.

No. This was in 2013. Sturgill was just hitting the scene. High Top Mountain hadn't been released yet.

Figured, I cant get into Sturgil, love his voice and where he is coming from, but I cant find a song I love other than bloom that I cant stop listening to. I havent bought an album, and I realize that if you buy the album and listen you fall in love w/ all the songs, similar to me with any shooter album, but give me the top 3 songs to listen to to make me like him.

For me his top 3 (OK 4) are the following:

Life Ain't Fair and the World is Mean - High Top Mountain
Hero - High Top Mountain
The Promise - Metamodern Sounds in Country Music
Call to Arms - Sailor's Guide to Earth

But hell, I love his whole Discography.

In Bloom is fantastic as ****. I really, really dig Brace for Impact (Live a Little) on Sailor's.

perfect, Ill listen, I feel like he is the reverse of jamey johnson, he started out with commercial hits then went into making amazing non commercial music where ss just makes non commercial music and will probably just keep doing that. I never like a JJ album on first listen but after a week I cant stop talking about it.
