Consider the source (OU). OU fans are trying to come up with ways to leave the conference. There is no reason for Fox and/or ESPN to do this. Yes, there is incentive for the schools, but not for the networks.

My hope is that Pollard is actively talking to all of the other P4 conferences. It is about networking at this point.

I can see it now - UT, OU, KU & ISU to PAC. Gives PAC central time zone, 4 schools with good academics, LHN becomes the network for this new 4 team pod and division would include CU, Ut, AZ & ASU. Maintains red river and have cross division rivalry games of Stanford vs UT, OU vs USC etc...

And then I woke up.

This is my recent line of thinking. I assume discussions among people who can actually control things are a giveI imagine ADs at schools in a position like ISU's wouldn't just sit back and hope status quo works itself out. I'm not sure what degree of urgency there is currently.

Pretending I had some involvement and wasn't content to let the chips fall on the whims of UT/OU, my first choice would be pursuit of getting Iowa State into an expanded Pac-12 ... Big Ten makes the most sense geographically, of course, but I wouldn't hitch my wagon to it. SEC makes no sense regionally or culturally. ACC? Unless plans are to go to more than 16 teams (or if SEC/Big Ten raid enough teams), I'm not confident there.

Can someone summarize the argument these two are having?
From my 30 seconds of investigating it sounds like the dude claims the big 12 will be fine and Greg says the big 12 is doomed with WVU and ISU not finding homes. They are fighting because Greg is pretty much attacked the dude and calling him dumb while the dude is being delusional and going on one of his mass block sprees.

One things I know for 100% is both of these guys make up all their info and everyone makes fun of them.

So - just for the fun of it - if Texas is schmoozing Nebraska and Nebby feels their "brand" has not grown (read nobody in B1G cares about them) and they want to come back - then let them. If Colorado wants back - then let them. OU to SEC is a joke as they cant get to playoff now - never going against LSU/ARK /Auburn and Bama every year. PAC12- talk about nobody knowing you - go ahead. So bring back Nebraska - add Cincy and BYU and HOU - call ourselves Big 14 and head for 2024. If Buffs want back then let them in and add UCF or Uconn. Surely ESPN/Fox would have revenue in that scenario. If not then start pandering to PAC12 cuz B1G has eyes on Texas and KU.

Wow, I finally agree with Tramel.
Fundamentally flawed?

"The Big 12 was formed as a business enterprise. A virtual member of the Big Eight and the strong members of the Southwest Conference. It didn't form from culture or academics or like-mindedness. It was all about money."

I don't see Nebraska ever coming back, not even pursuing discussions or entertaining them.

IF Texas is trying to create the first 20 team conference I'm sure we would have a spot in it. I don't see UT going to the B1G. That makes no sense. Talk about a geographic outlier. That's worse than WVU in the Big XII.

I also think NU, ASU, AZ, and CU may all be in play IF that ever happens and that's a big "IF"

I also think if 20 is an actual number that is desirable to UT, I would think the B1G already has eyes on a 20 team league.

If Texas goes to 20 and the B1G has to match I would think Iowa State would have the choice between the 2. Having close away games would be ideal again. Drive to Nebraska, Missouri, etc

The rumor started by @flugempire is 100% false. Absolutely no basis in reality. The sad part is I shouldn't have to tell you that.

Christopher Lambert ‏@theDudeofWV 5h5 hours ago
I'm not going to waste anymore time addressing that rumor other than to say my offer to debate @flugempire is still on the table.

So the two most recent experts on conference realignment are a gopher fan and a highlander?

The Big 12 will never poach a team from another Power 5 league. Ever.

It wouldn't be the Big XII. It would be a new conference that UT is trying to put together. Go read my link above, check out the source and see what he is saying about what is going on. He talks about how he needs to hear the same story from 3 reliable sources before he will go public with it. I certainly don't know that he is any more credible than anyone else but it seems he at leas has some credible connections based on his time in the business.
